Possibly may purchase this h2. I would like to know what to look for in a 2003 model. Things that go wrong with that year. It has 90k and I can probably get it for 12k. It needs tie rods. The person already has them. The only other thing it needs is a new rear bumper section, the metal part in the middle. It's a little rusty. Underside is decent with minor surface rust. Frame is good shape and still has factory undercoating. It's black with tan interior.
The inside has leather with cloth centers. I'm assuming because it's an adventure model.
Please post up and let me know what you think!

Check maintence records if any are available, check the fluids for proper color, check for leaks, including leaks from the sunroof drain tubes being clogged, just lift up the carpet in the front on both the drivers side and the passengers side, and see if its wet. Check to see if the sunroof works (this last 2 are only if it has a sunroof, of course) check the AC and Heat as well. I'm sure a lot of others will chime in to give you more ideas.

I did all that...everything looks pretty decent so far. The 2 has been sitting for approx 2 years....so leaks are my major concern. Heat controls all work and throws good heat. Can't check a/c because it's only about 10 degrees up here.....kinda hard telling if it's working or not!:)

The exterior mirrors and airbags were the most common issues on the 03 model. My 03 did not have issues with either.

Sound like you need to bring that one home then. Since it needs new tie rods (I know you said they were giving you some, but...) I would suggest going with the Heavy duty Kryptonite ones, they also make heavy duty Kryptonite upper control arms, which all made a big difference on my rig

Do you have a part number on the kryptonite ?
I'm going back after work today to look at it again....The owner told me he started it up today to move it and the check engine light came on......
So I grabbed my code reader to see what it says. Probably nothing major. I think the gas went bad in it from sitting for almost two years and the O2 sensor is probably throwing a code.
I'll find out in a couple of hours. Wish me luck!

Well checked why the engine light came on. Both O2 sensors were dead and it had the dreaded P0300 random misfires. My last H2 had that issue and it wasn't hard to fix, but it was a pia. There were a few other things I noticed that killed the deal. I decided to walk on this one.

Checked another 03'.....it was leaking gas as I was looking at it.....nice feature! Plus a lot of jury rigging......still looking!
