6.2L swap into '07 or older?

I searched for any old posts on swapping a newer 6.2L into an '07 or older deuce and didn't find anything.

Is there anything to too prohibitive to doing a swap like this? Initially I got to wondering if the engine is physically the same size as a 6L, then wondered if you could bolt up the 6.2 to the older trans?

I've only got 85K on the deuce and hoping I won't be doing an engine replacement for a long time, just thought it would be a cool option for a little extra power vs. doing the more expensive diesel swap.

I know Zach just did an engine replacement, was a swap like this a consideration?

My understanding is they are the same block. The difference is internally, so it would fit and bolt on. I think the computer is different though, so done custom tuning would be needed unless the modules are interchangeable. Seems like I've read that they are not though, so a harness swap might be necessary.

And then at that point might as well upgrade to the 6 speed tranny too.

I was recently driving a 2011 Tahoe at work with the 5.3 and 6 speed. I know my H2 is heavier and rolling 37"s with stock gearing, but wow! That thing really made my H2 feel like a giant turd! The 6 speed really makes a difference for being able to stay in the power!

The 6L and 6.2L should be the same. I swapped from a 5.3 to 6.2 and it was perfect drop in. Trans bolted up (4L60e) as the bellhousing on all LS/LT engines are the same.

Now pcm wise, the 6.2L run using an e38 pcm. On the h3 alpha this is the case, on a 2006 h3 its not. Now on a 2007 H2 I dont know, but if you do have the same pcm then electrical wise you have no issues and your 6L tune should run the 6.2 (some adjustments will be made to match the 6.2 specs but you will be ok starting the engine). You will need a seperate pcm for the engine (on a 2006 h3 for comparison has one pcm running both the engine and trans which wont work with the 6.2) so if you have a pcm and no tcm you will need to swap to seperate modules.

I even moved all accessories and brackets from the 5.3 to the 6.2. And reused the h3 alpha exhaust manifolds (they are specific to the h3 but they bolt up directly to the 6.2 no problems).

On your swap from the 5.3 to the 6.2 did you use the original Alpha PCM with no additional tuning? If you did tune it what program did you go with? Also I assume you used the LS3 376 out of the newer style Camaro SS? It was unclear to me in your write up.

Sorry to get off topic from the OP.

Reused Alpha pcm and stock wiring harness.
Stock tune fired it up, but offcourse the tune doesnt take into account the cam.

I got the crate ls376 tune (which is made for an e67 pcm) and sent it to pcmofnc to adapt it on my e38 pcm tune. Im still in the process of finishing my truck so I still haven't tested it out.
