The three kinds I have used (all aerosol) in the past with good success (not on a brush guard but other other metal projects) are RustOleum, PlastiKote, and Dupli-Color (in that order). I like the durability and the finish of the RustOleum best.

They can be found at Walmart, Advanced Auto, Auto Zone, Home Depot, Lowes, Tractor Supply Company, and etc.

Thanks solar flare, I'm thinking of using the rustoleum roll or brush on system mainly because i found a gallon of it for 59$ haha I've used some spray can ones in the past and they worked well. The only bad part was they were around 9$ a can and didn't cover a big area .

I would use aerosol on the brush guard and other small“ish” items but I would definitely use roll on for the work truck if your doing the bed. The roll on is thicker and covers large areas better then spray on bed liner.

I was thinking of aerosol on the brush guard mainly because its welded to my 3 lol and for the pickup it has a drop in bed liner now. I have some body rust on lower doors and the edge of my tailgate. I'm debating on following the body line that's about 8 inchs up all the way around it or just biting the bullet and covering the whole truck haha.
