Alright, time (finally) for an Arizona trail run. We'll be doing one of our favorites, the Backway to Crown King. https://funtreks.com/off-road-trails/backway-crown-king/. This trail's conditions change all of the time. It can be moderate, hard, or with the optional obstacles, stupid hard. It's a pretty full day of driving from meeting spot to trail to back to highway. Please start the day with a full tank of gas.

Details:
Saturday, May 15
8:30 am meeting time, 9:00 depart (let's start early, beat some of the trail traffic and the heat)
Meet at McDonald's, Carefree Highway and I-17 https://goo.gl/maps/NUb4TbUUn9zWjsAR9
Bring snacks and plenty of water. We'll try and do lunch in Crown King at The Mill, which is on the right opposite the main entrance to town.
Radios: We're using GMRS (Channel 21) not CB! If you don't have a radio yet, here are some recommendations.
Handheld: Midland https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B001WMFYH4/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_YH07XHY2JT3RSDZ8W1DB
Geeky handheld: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01LWOLZ8L/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_QH8742FVMCCJ6BHF2HAM
Built-in, with antenna: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08SYCFQ6G/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_ZG5HAPEZN4CCEDJ51PEB. This one is nice as you can hide the head unit and it comes with an antenna with a bar mount. You can also buy the radio separately and do your own antenna setup
Geeky built-in: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RDM9LMM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1, Antenna mount https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J9EGGDW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1, Antenna https://www.arcantenna.com/products/trab4503-m2m-400-490-mhz-black-low-profile-omni-antenna
If you install a unit with antenna, please use a GMRS SWR to measure before you transmit to avoid any wiring/ground issues. This is not the same as a CB SWR. I have a basic GMRS SWR we can use if you want.
