H3 Changing shocks out...

How easy are they to switch out? I'm gonna be getting bilstein 5100s, and what kinda bump stops?

Easy to switch out. Jack up and support the front end, remove the tire. Remove top and bottom bolts. Might take some wiggling to get it out and get the new one in.

You don't need to change out the bump stops - it is a preference thing and generally only changed after leveling the front end through cranking the torsion bars. Some people change to the Trail Duty +1/2" bump stops, some don't. The bump stops help eliminate nose dive on braking but (in my opinion) they lead to a significantly firmer ride as they do not have the same dampening quality as the OEM bump stops.

I'll be changing shocks in a week or so two. My OEMs are both leaking up front. Not sure if I'm going back to Bilsteins (I had issues with them too), OEMs or a third one. I think I'm likely to try the Bilsteins again.

Cool thank you Alrock, ya I've had the same shocks since I bought the H3 in 08, and since I torsioned it I feel like it could use some new ones haha

The top bolt is actually a nut and mine were rusted on. I cut just below the nut( not through the shock tube) with a saw zaw and was easier for me. Wd 40 the nuts and bolts first . Wrestling the fronts in we're a little pain. Have fun.

Alex, I still have the set I took off mine at 10K miles if you want them. I am keeping my Bilsteins!

Thanks Craig but I just ordered new Bilsteins through Expedition Hardware. Guess I will try them again; after all they are shinier
