so i have been wanting to do this for along time, i finally got my hands on a angle grinder and cut disk and file and got to it

all i needed was, angle grinder with a cut disk and a file...
so heres where i started,
got the hood louver off and got the tools needed

then i made a 1inch mark in the middle of the louver for structure so the cross plastic pieces arent weak and flimsy, the i jus cut out the notches

my cuts arent very great haha:emb:

then cut up the hood, make sure to paint the cuts too...

then jus put the louver back on :)

so thats what i did today :) i ran the engine for awhile and put my hand over the vents and felt heat pushing out so its working :)

I guess you would experience a lot more days per year that a mod like that would help you keep engine temps down.. unfortunately for me I would prob only benefit from that a few days per year, the rest of the year I am having to start the T up 5-10 min early because its too cold out!

Thanks for posting! turned out great!

Nice work!
I'd like to see the hood closed and you spray the hood to mimic rain. Then open the hood and see how wet it gets and where.

Any update on the spraying and pics under hood afterwards?

Sorry haha slipped my mind, when I get home from work I'll do it, I'll spray water up in the air and let it fall down on the hood jus like rain would've, and I'll take before and after pics and everything [emoji6]

Ok without further ado here we go... Here's it dry and the engine dry now here's the hood covered in water after 2minutes of constant water running on too of the hood and now what we all have been waiting for, the engine bay the fan shroud was the only thing to get wet, drips on the belt and pulley but that was it when I opened the hood completely water dripped from the hood and hit the KAI and throttle body box, so I think it's a success [emoji4]

Looks promising next testing should be at Azusa in mud and low water level fast speed river crossing.

In this pic you can see the mud layer is about as thick as the hood louver XP IDK how clean the engine would be at the end.
