Dealer replaced the shocks, but....

...it didn't do a damn thing to stop all the noise:gaah:. People a block away turn and look it is getting downright embarrassing driving the H3. I'm sure all the Jeepers laugh after I pass them.

I told the service manager twice, his assistant three times that is was NOT the shocks, but no, they won't listen

. So, tomorrow, I go back up and ask what the next step is. And in my opinion it is two springs

I'm sure the problems are: teflon spacers are gone on some of the ends on both sides and this is causing the clink.

I'm sure the busings are shot to hell on both sides and this is the creak/squeak.

I'll see what they say, but I'm very tempted

to get someone to pull them off, rebuild with new spacers, burn out the old POS rubber bushings, and install some poly bushings.

My squeak was caused by the leaf springs bushings. It was there for about 6 months and went away on its own. Liberal doses of lube worked well a couple of times for a short while. I did replace the teflon spacers with spacers from Skyjacker and those have held up for 2+ years. Not an exact fit but with a wee bit of trimming they have worked out well.

I run with the stereo up and I can still hear those springs.

They have been nosiy for about a year, but back on Labor Day, when coming down from Elk Ridge and entering Bridger Jack Mesa, they started to get so loud it drove me crazy. I'll find out in a couple hours how the dealer feels with replacing them.

I fixed mine with a Gibson cat-back exhaust and Pioneer AVIC-D3 radio. I can't hear the squeak any more!:horns:

Ahhh when I first joined a few years ago all my questions were about this damn squeaking. I tried everything. Body mounts, front end components, lubing the leaf springs and what finally did the trick was to power wash the leaf springs. So much crap got caught in between them and caused squeaking like you said. Excessive and loud squeaking. Took a power washer to it and it got all the crap out and never heard the leaf springs again.

Had the same problem after my Muddy run. After washing my truck after the run it still kept doing it. So i searched it on *** at the time and i saw someone saying getting a good cleaning did the job, tryed it and i never heard a sound again

Called a friend this AM at GM. He located a very interesting bulletin on body mount cushions that cause the exact same problem. Dealer is ordering new body mounts.

GM has also published a bulletin for cleaning the springs and lubing the bushings; however, I have already done this and nothing changed. So, possibly the body mount cushions are shot and from talking with the guy, good chance they are shot to hell.
