Had a great day. It was only me nick (my brother) and seth. 2 JKs and squeaky. I did the waterfall...gnarly obstacle. pics to come later, off to work.

O and btw I think my AAM-7 is done, the second I hit pavement and was coasting I heard noises from the front end. drained the fluid and saw one little chunk now I have to pull the cover.

Ok story time first! I'm at work....ill be off at 330 and will supply pics. And this is my DD too...lol

We run dishpan springs. The beginning is good. We now get to the "waterfall." Now one thing to remember, first YouTube videos don't do justice and second of all big bear is torn up. Trails that were ran 5 years ago with 31s and open/open is now a challenge for 35s and a locker. A buddy of mine ran dishpan ran it years ago and a few months ago and said its much tougher. The waterfall is no exception.

So Seth doesn't try it in his JK with camping stuff and his kid it wouldn't of been a good idea. My brother said he would try it until I went he his mind changed.

I go up. I try to be finesse, that's the name of the game keeping the front end together but with this obstacle it's either bypass winch or give it gas. So after 10 min of trying and giving it more and more everytime. I finally get up! Woohoo! I'm stoked. Now to get down is ridiculous. Very off camber with a 3 foot drop. Couldn't get through. Locals come by, they said we know there is 2 ways to do it. They saw 2 guys up here and 2 different results. 1 guy going slow and he rolled due to it being so off camber. The other guy gunned it and made it. So I said neither so they said back down. I back down my brother and his friend on a tow strap to the front end pulling and Seth on my bumper I slid back and was going over I saw the inclinometer at 48 after I came down. If they weren't there holding weight id flop back no doubt.

So the locals leave and new locals come by amazed an H3 is up on the waterfall. One guy was a prick at first but was cool and winched me over to a less steep part on the waterfall I get off! Never felt so screwed. I have always felt like there was an answer to get out safely but not here.

No noises, get on the road home at coast I hear noises from the front end. I know it's not a t case. Pulled the driveline and it drove in 4hi locked. It didn't sound like a halfshaft but those had torn boots....I assume diff. I will see after work. Crazy day. All the locals loved squeaky and asked why I have an H3 up there....I said why not!

If its the diff change will come next summer.

An AAM-7 won't lock-up. It doesn't have enough "beef" to lock-up. Instead...it just explodes. -LOL

Look on the bright side... You made it home!

Most videos are very old and show when it was easier and other videos take the waterfall bypass.

This guy is locked in the rear and on coilovers and open in the front like me and struggled.

Here are some pics, I will try to get my buddy to send me the other ones.

Pics make that obstacle look so tame! :huh:When we got to it all I said was holy ****. I will get more but hopefully the video shows its kinda tough.

Id love to do this again Dave!

I plan to do isham! Spoke with Chris. I need some armor first.

I will rent out "technology center" from serge and see what's available. First thing into search engine is fraction of a cost that serge spends...not sure if that term ever been used in the technology center before ;)

I've already posted pics of the shack that Serge had his first tech center. It's in the way to JB. It has since moved and is confidential now. I know of the place lol

Chris, I am glad you got that flat tire before you started Holcomb. If not, you may have completely blown the diff and we would have been dragging you through those rock gardens.

That waterfall was really gnarly. A few years ago I saw some XJ's run right over it with no problems. This time getting up was difficult, but the transition off the top was almost impossible without a lot of flex. It took me 3 tries, but I finally got Chris up the waterfall. Almost wished we had stopped after the second attempt. He almost rolled twice on that obstacle; once when trying to transition off the obstacle and then again when backing down. I went about 5 feet in the air before the front end finally came back down. Definitely a fun day.

Thanks to Chris and his brother for joining me and the family for some trail testing.
