I would be able to tell if the transmission place actually took my front differential apart? They charged me $425 to do it and said it was all good..is there anyway to tell?
Thanks

Yea that and,
If I don't know the shop, I ask for any damaged parts and the gasket kit packaging. They may have some of that laying around but probably not for an H3.
If you get that "deer in the headlights" look "they might be a redneck"
When I do diesel repairs I offer up the damaged parts and pictures without being asked, and I'm probably a Redneck!
You could also ask them how much fluid and what type they put in, without them walking away. If they cannot answer that...........?

Look for chaulk on the inspection plugs or drain plugs, fresh silicon between cover and diff, might be a paint stick mark on the diff cover bolts.
Like Hunner says, anyone I've dealt with has kept and shown the removed part as well.

You did not say you asked them to look at the front diff. Why would they take it apart without notifying you unless you asked them to look at it. Was this an authorized repair?
