I have had trouble free issues with my eaton e locker for about 2 years now. A few months after install I heard MaxPFs recommendation about engaging it before the obstacle to help with wear. Obviously in reverse it will engage and disengage but so far no issues. I just try to avoid putting as much wear on it as possible.

When it wears out I will probably rebuild it or go with an OX locker. I became a fan after seeing it with my brothers JK. Beefy unit, 3 options on locking it (manual, electric, and air) a "drive away lock" method, which is a 25 dollar piece that you keep in the glove box so if the air line or cable breaks you plug it in and it locks it for you so you can continue your day.

Manual cable adjustment is a PITA in the beginning but now that I have figured it out it locks and unlocks on demand and I can adjust them and set them up much quicker now.

Would it be better to buy the locker and get it installed by someone that knows what they're doing or find a used rear diff from an adv model and swap the whole dang thing out?

I was always happy with my E-Lockers. However, when I get lockers for my new axles they will be ARBs for one simple reason: Eaton doesn't make an E'Locker for the 14b full floater. Too bad too, 'cause E-lockers were quasi-affordable while the price of ARBs about makes me cry ****.
