ECM or PCM

It doesn't have both. They are the same thing. Some of the GM vehicles have a VCM, same thing.

I will agree it cannot have both...however, GM, to my knowledge DID NOT use a VCM in any vehicle while I was with them (up into 2008) Possibly, a Caddy might have had one but not sure and never got involved with those models; other than to drive them on occasion. A VCM is a vehicle control module and is designed to replace the ECM/TCM/BCM. The H2 used a PCM (Powertrain control module) which is a combined ECM and TCM (if equipped with an Auto.) If you have a ECM and an auto trans you also will have a TCM.

For a direct answer...the 2003 H2 uses a PCM.

Here's a 2003 H2 Trans Control Diagram showing the PCM....

There were vehicles after 08 they designated with a VCM. And still had a BCM, all about terminology. But pretty much the same thing. ECM, PCM, VCM, same thing.

ECM terminology was used in older models. Then went to PCM. Engine control module to Powertrain control module. Pretty much the same thing, with the exception of newer cars/trucks that also run a TCM, it's incorporated into the valve body of the trans.

Thank you guys so much, the reason I was asking is I have bought an extra ECM to have an upgraded tune to be done and wondering if the tranny would be covered in the tune.

From a mechanics point of view, they might be the same; however, from an engineering point of view, they are very different. But the answer to the original question is a PCM as shown in the schematic.
