Hey All,
Does anyone know what this is? It seems there is a version of the H3 with a dual electric fan instead (or maybe with) the clutch fan? What is this?

[/URL]I have been thinking for some time to replace the clutch fan with an electric...

Bearing in mind that I live in Dubai, where the temperature in summer is above 45 degrees (113 F) all the time!!! so I was thinking an electrical fan would provide better engine response and better cooling in traffic.

What do you guys think?

Its interesting you found those. I couldnt find them on any other site.

Those fans come auxillary on the V8 H3. They add to the clutch fan, NOT replace it.
Humvee was using the large 12" fan on his V8 converted H3 and it wasnt enough to give him cold air at idle. The V8 H3 needs both to give cool a/c in the Gulf (+115*)

I added a 12inch Efan controlled by the PCM to help the viscous fan. Results have been great. I am also running a 98 Ford Explorer 5.0L V8 Metal fan (98 Ford Explorer with 5.0L V8 used the same fan clutch as the 5.3L H3 Alpha). I don't have to worry about the OEM Plastic fan blade blowing to bits, and I scored the Ford Fan Blade at a junk yard for 8.00.

Yes, OP, I suggest you add the fans, do not replace the clutch fan, it will be an expensive affair with a lot of trial and error. Especially in Dubai and the rest of the MiddleEast

Agreed, I think I will add an eFan in front of the AC condenser to aid in cooling in traffic on hot days, while keeping the belt fan. The AC has never been great on the Hummer here in this heat, so it might help that as well.

But does anyone know, how many amps can the stock generator handle without causing electric problems?

So in total the car came with 3 fans!! two electric and one clutch! That's a lot of fans... or was it like a hot climate addon?

The 5 cylinder H3 doesn't come with efans. Unlike the US model ones, the V8s made in South Africa came with 2 extra e fans.

Anyway, the cooling on the 5 cylinder is more than enough to give great a/c even with 50* C idling. The truck will heat up at stand still but the a/c is built really well amd should keep cooling. If your car isn't keeping up check that your clutch fan is running properly (the belt isn't slipping and the clutch engages fully).
If all is good, get a single pusher fan and wire it to the pcm and get it programmed so it runs directly from the computer. You don't need a the factory offerrd fan, you can get better & more powerful ones for the same price.
The e38 ecu has pinout 58 which controls the low speed setting for an efan (if you want to do it factory style). You will need a programmer to add the settings in the pcm to operate the fan at specific ECT and a/c pressure.
Otherwise, wire the fan independently of the pcm to the a/c compressor switch so it goes on when the a/c compressor is working and stays off when you are not using your a/c.
