hey guys , So earlier today i went to start my h3 up to take her out and run some errands.
Well i didnt notice this till i got to the gas station but there was a rattle coming from under the truck
it sounds like some bolts in a can being rattled around .my first thought was maybe the heat shield ? so with that i went upon my afternoon
completely forgetting about it ,But than when i got home and pulled into the garage i heard it again .so i did some investigating .
now its only making the noise when in drive/reverse not in park so i had my wife hop in and put it in drive while holding the break so i can get under
and see if i can pinpoint the problem . well non the less i found the noise is coming from the trans , my first thought was the TC because my tranny is shifting perfect with no issues .
so i was thinking maybe it was the tc shift fork but when i engage 4h,4hL and 4l lock they all engage perfect .Plus the TC is more tword the middle of the chassis right??
so im stuck . ima take it to a shop monday but im hoping someone can shed some light . Is my tranny going out ??? i hope not . :(

That's what I was thinking but the noise is coming from in front of the pan. The t case is located to
the back of the pan . I think ?? Anyways I dropped the pan and changed the filter /fluid
about 5 and a half courts is what was recommended for this swap. There was no shavings or particles what so ever in the pan or on the magnet .
The only bad thing was the black fluid almost like oil . After putting everything back together and testing , the problem is still there. I'm so frustrated .

rock in the dust cover
bad torque converter
bolt loose on torque converter to flywheel
loose flywheel

with black fluid, I'm thinking the worst because that means the transmission got too hot.

Hmm, sounds a bit like Reloader's H3 from this morning. His is likely a cracked flywheel on the transmission. Made a ticking noise like that under load.

Are you sure it's not something simple like exhaust, transmission, diff etc. hitting a crossmember? That's actually a more likely cause that comes from normal wear and tear like from torn motor mounts to a failed diff crossmember bushing. Under load, your engine will move and twist the engine into hitting something it shouldn't.

I haven't had the chance to get back under there and check .
Im hoping it's not major because the tranny is still doing great . Shifting perfect,no slipping or anything .
I'm gonna get back under there today when I get off work . Fingers crossed

So I finally got back under and it's definitely the tranny . I'm going more towards the tourqe converter because now it's got this whine
almost sounds like it's supercharged lol . So I'm pretty sure it's the t converter because that's where the rattle is located as well . But I'll find out tomorrow when I take it in

So how's this for luck ! I went to leave this morning to take it down to the shop
to get diagnosed and now it won't move . When it's put in reverse or drive it just revs and spins
. It will however go into gear if I put it in park turn it off and back on again but it only stays in gear for about 1 minute so now I'm stuck .
So it looks like I'm gonna be dropping the tranny in my garage . God I hope it's only the t converter or flywheel

So It turns out that the torque converter broke up and metal got in the pump burning it up as well . along with
shift solenoids going out . and the a few clutches were worn pretty bad . we just went with a whole new tranny. total with the new tranny ,torque converter ,fluids and labor was
$1700.1 so happy i get my baby back Tuesday. ugh what a nightmare this has been .
