What is the procedure using my ignition key to retrieve engine codes

Get a cheap OBD II reader off of Amazon, or go to a local parts store and have them plug in to your OBD port to retrieve codes.

Yep. There are SOOOooo many more codes now than there used to be back then.

3rd Gen C10's explains the proper way to use an OBD1 scanner (paperclip). Used one on my Oldsmobile.
