Well.... I decided to take the roof rack off so I can drive it into my shop. Need a nice warm dry place to work on it.
Now that I did, it looks kinda bald. Looks weird. Mostly not used to it I guess.

BTW... The roof rack and rear tire carrier is up for sale. Best offer and need to pick up, takes them. Check the "Swap Meet"

I probably should keep them I guess. My thinking is, the rear tire will block my view. The rack was so freaking heavy taking it down, I'm never going to put it back up there. The wife and I took it down yesterday and at times I had the entire rack on me. One time, I heard this sound, tink, tink. I'm pretty sure I lost both of my "Ball Bearings"! :whaa:

Also, when I first got the Hummer I couldnt really get into it. If/when you plan to lift it my first "tecnique" wouldnt work. Tell you wife that she could also just sit in the seat first, then turn sideways with her feet up and she really wont have any trouble.

Those bumper tire carriers do impact your vision but it is nice to have a spare. No shipping sure limts your market to sell to.

You're right about the shipping. There is not that many guys here in Texas that need a tire carrier or willing to drive that far. I've never shipped anything that big before.
The tire is in the back. It takes up good space but doesn't bother me.... Yet.

Roof racks are tougher to sell. Big, bulky and heavy. Local buyer is best but usually hits you in the price department.

Yeah, I figure someone will make out like a bandit! That's ok I guess. As long as it goes to someone who will really use it.

I like the look of the wagons either without a rack or one filled to capacity ready for serious expedition. Better to keep the weight low anyways (if possible)

With me, it was either take off the rack and spare or re-build my garage doors!
I do like the clean look. Before it kinda looked like I was on Safari.

COG is important. On the wagon I had the SMA rack, which is heavy and a spare and I never was in a position that I felt it made any difference. Guess if you load enough spares and tools down low nothing can roll you over.
