Has anyone used shock extenders?

Has anyone used shock extenders on the front before? I am almost finished installing my Rancho and my Bilsteins are in great shape and would like to keep them. $30 for extenders or $150 for new Bilsteins. These are for a Chevy Silverado with 3" of lift.

If they are made of quality material then why not?
They need to be strong to handle the abuse and not be the weak link.

Unrelated topic, but how about shock spacers with a torsion bar lift? Has anyone ever used them? I have been thinking about putting em on my stock shocks bc they came with my lift shackles

These accomplish the same thing, these just replace the lower mount that is much sturdier than the threaded rod that may bend. These are cheap enough, once I get them installed I'll post a review.

After finding ways to get more travel and finding the shock to limit down travel I used a nut for a 1/2 bolt that happens to be 1/2 inch tall, removed the top nut on the shock dropped this over the stem and bolted it back up. Cheap and all the length you need for stock shocks. Bilsteins are longer and don't need this.

Yep that's the same thing as the shock spacers! Both cheap ways to extend the shock. Won't interfere with alignment though right?

I also used the Hunner nut trick and we still do it on some trucks from time to time. Changing shock position will not affect alignment.

I need it for a Rancho 4" lift. The nut won't work. I know the travel doesn't change with the lift, that's why I would like to keep my Bilsteins, I like the way they ride.

Yes we are talking about just a tbar crank, but using the extenders will work
