Alright so back at the very end of March I went on my first desert trip and when I was out there all of a sudden I kept hearing a hitting noise and asked my buddy what that was and he said it was probably just rocks hitting in the wheel well so I ignored it..... then I realized that it was actually my doors trying to auto-lock the whole time. On my drive back home it did it for a while and then when I got home and cleaned the doors it stopped. Now it has started again and it keeps setting off my alarm at random times thinking that a door is being opened. I haven't done any off-roading since I went to the desert so I don't know why its doing it again, but this time much worse.
Any suggestions on what it could be and what I can do to fix it before I take it to a mechanic??
I want to get this fixed ASAP because I am planning on hitting some trails soon and don't want to make it worse! That and its super annoying

Check your battery terminals! It sounds weird, but I used to get all my doors to lock/unlock repeatedly while driving on the highway, stop the car, wiggle the terminals and problem stops. Fixed it by replacing my terminals with aftermarket ones.

I had a door jamb switch break on me causing the truck to think a door was always open. You can either replace it, or just unplug it. I chose to just unplug it for the time being. That was well over a year ago, I kind of just keep forgetting about it.

Yep, door jamb switch. Easy fix. :link:

Open one door at a time and see if the lights go out when you depress the switch. Buy extras too.

I keep thinking "I need to replace that" and once I even spent a few minutes trying to find the switch.... that's twice you've had the part number for some minor annoyance.. Thanks Alrock!
