This hit on the SEMA mailing list yesterday.
This is big news for replica/hotrod/kit car builders ... plus stuff like Icon's 4x4's and anything like the Humvee-C project. It would allow vehicles that are at least 25 years old to be produced in limited tumbers [325/year] that can meet modern emissions provided they use an existing system from another vehicle [and that the emissions equipment is maintained].
Since the H1 hit the market in 1992 that would leave AM General the possibility of licensing or making limited numbers of trucks starting in 2017 in theory. That's if they're interested in the project anymore.
Not sure about cramming a DEF system into an H1, might be better to go with a vortec 8100 setup if that's still in production today.
