If you all are not aware Dave Hunter “Hunner” left this earth on March 20th, 2024

Here is his obituary, man he lived a full life! I encourage you to watch his tribute movie.

i never knew him but enjoyed his posts on here and learned from him before ever joining this forum. I have a 2007 H3 that I bought and have done work to it to make it better as so many do, but I couldn’t get past the lack of power. I started looking for an Alpha and searched online and stumbled upon one that looked familiar to me and after further research turned out to be Hunner’s.

I reached out to him via DM on this forum, not knowing he had passed and never got a reply as I was curious why he was selling. I then did more sleuthing to try to find a phone number I could call and discuss his H3 and found his obituary.

Long story short, I just made the purchase and am now the owner of the “Hunner Edition”. Through reading his very good posts and looking at his adventures, I feel like I knew him, and I very much plan on leaving his “Experimental Vehicle” and “Hunner Edition” decals on his rig. It will always be his, I’m just going to get to experience it and take care of it for a while. I hope to have as much fun in and express as much love for his rig as he did.

if you see me anywhere out there driving it, just know I am just the caretaker for now, and give me a wave as you go by.

Happy sailing “Hunner” I know now that was your first love, I look forward to meeting you in heaven.

I never knew him, but I know of him and some of his great contributions to the H3 community. Please share a photo of his H3 that you are the new owner of.

Here’s a photo of the two I now have, black one is my 2007, white one is the “Hunner Edition”. This was on the way home from picking it up.

Sorry to hear about Hunner. He definitely pioneered some stuff for the H3 back in the day. Glad his rig is staying with someone likeminded.

I am so sad to hear Hunner has passed on. He was an inspiration and I looked up to him and his mods when I first joined the forum.

I am glad the H3 will live on with someone who can appreciate it.

Knew of him from the forums, and had a chance to wheel with him at Badlands years ago. He was a pretty cool guy.
