So the other day I was on my way to get lunch and after parking in the parking lot I put the truck in park and tried to turned it off. The engine turned off, however I wasn't able to completely turn it off, the radio and stuff was still on.

After 10 minutes of trying to caress the key out, I turned the truck back on, which it allowed me to do, and moved across the parking lot and parking it again. The key came out no problem, but this has happened several times since (but not every time), which was about 3 days ago.

Then yesterday something else started happening, when driving slowly through a parking lot, the traction control, abs, and parking brake light came on in the dash, as well as it telling me I was unbuckled which I wasn't.

This morning I was running late for work, I rushed out side to the truck and noticed the key remote wasn't unlocking the car, but I didn't think anything of it because I thought the battery may have been low. So I used the key hole and opened the door and now noticed the power steps I have, didn't come down. Still in a rush I had no time to worry about it, put the key in the ignition and guess what?

My truck didn't start.

Not a single noise came from the engine attempting to start, the radio didn't turn on, nothing, not even the garage door opener. And just my luck, the key was once again stuck, now I wouldn't care that much about this happening, except for the fact that I live in a townhouse complex and its parked in a parking space not my drive way. So I left it locked and with a t shirt over the ignition so no one can see the keys in there.

So lucky me I got to lift the garage door open, cause the opener didn't work and I only leave the garage door unlocked (I don't carry my house keys with me). After getting inside, I grabbed the keys to my other car and left.

I really need to figure out whats wrong, but I don't want to spend a fortune on towing it to the Moore Cadillac dealership where it'll cost me an arm and a leg to get fixed, but the way it seems I may have to, please help if anyone may know.

P.S. I recently replaced the marker light gaskets on three lights, I thought the others were fine so I let them be and I just had a horrendous rain storm the day before this began.

P.P.S. On my way to work I got a speeding ticket. Hooray!

Dead or broken battery, or possibly bad or loose battery terminals. The symptoms exactly match a bad battery. Go to an auto store and have the battery tested.

what about the key being stuck in the ignition and the several lights that came on

I also forgot to mention that the check engine light was on today when the key was in the ignition, I don't think that the battery light on though, I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not?

Bad battery terminals can do crazy things to a car, but i'm guessing it's either your cluster or your bcm if it isnt just the battery/terminals.

A key stuck in the ignition is a symptom of a dead battery. Take a look through the forum as there are two or three other recent posts about similar symptoms and a new battery fixed the issue.

Sounds like it is a bad battery, and your key will release from the ignition as soon as you have the proper voltage/amperage from a new battery.

so was the reason the key was getting stuck every once in a while, a symptom of the battery dying?

also jump started last night and drove it around for about an hour and its been running fine, im planning on taking to the cadillac dealership though to get a diagnostic

I recently had a run in with the same exact problem and this time I took it to the GM dealer nearby. turns out it was a loose wire in the ignition and now it's starting easier than ever.

case closed.

PI have had a similar problem with the key being stuck in the ignition and not being able to remove it or turn it all the way off. My problem was a wire poping out of the harness in the gear shift selected. Cost $233 at the dealer to fix.

KTM640Dakar, I had the same thing happen to me recently, and I had to fix it myself, long story short, I had to strip the wire that came loose and slip it back into the harness clip, and then tape it nice and tight. Because unfortunatley there is a lot of movement of that connecting pin clip to the shifter. I'm surprised this hasn't happened to many more others on there H2's
