H3 Lost traction control, antilock and cruise control. No blown fuses

I was installing new brake pads and rotors on my H3 Alpha and had the right rear caliper off. My son pushed on the brake peddle and pushed out a piston before I realized what was happening. I cleaned up the piston and reinstalled it,then bled that caliper. I started it up when I was done and started getting BRAKES FLUID, TRACTION FAILED and SERVICE STAB SYS messages. The brake warning light and traction control light on the gauge display are on constantly. The vehicle runs fine and exhibits no steering or braking problems. I cannot engage stabilitrac, the antilock brake system does not function and cruise control has been disabled. This was 2 months ago and I can't find an answer to fix it. There are no blown fuses and the fluid level is good. Back in the old days there was a transfer block in the line that would shuttle to block flow if a line blew or a major difference in pressure was detected. I thought maybe the Hummer had one too that could be reset, but I cannot locate such a device.

You need a Tech2 to reset the ABS sensors. I had it happen to me as well. Took it to a garage, they reset it for free, gave the guy a $20 tip.

I went to Greulich's on Scottsdale and Shea. Note that I had gone there as a customer a few times so they knew me. If you have a local shop that you've gone to, give them a call first. It really is a two minute procedure for them - plug in tool, clear codes.

I appreciate the heads up. This has given a bunch of mechanic buddies a head scratcher- maybe a familiarity thing?

Tech II or a clone is a great investment if you plan on keeping your rig long term. Program some fobs, clear vin locked radios, or reset seat modules on the weekend for people and it will easily pay for itself.

Every time I get codes from brake work, they reset themselves, after a short drive. I’ve done a bunch of H3 brake work but, never blew a piston out of a caliper. Perhaps something is not right with the repair?

P.s. The key must be on to properly bleed the H3 brakes (electric booster).

I got the codes when someone else got in my H3 and stepped on the brakes with the calipers unbolted and the pads removed. The piston pushed all of the way out - not to the point of damaging the caliper, but it was to the point that all sorts of ABS codes went off. You are correct, it is not normal to get these codes - a significant mistake must happen.
