Monsoon monstrosity replacement

I love the audio quality that the monsoon brings to my H3, but its becoming completely useless. No phone or mp3 CD compatibility.

I want to replace it with a pioneer unit, a friend of mine did that and completely lost audio quality, including the bass from the rear woofer.

What can I do to keep the audio quality?

NOTE: We dont run an OnStar system in Qatar (something to consider when replying). Also don't have XM box in the dash.

I'd also like to know where the amp is located :(

I believe theres more to it than that. I read somewhere once that this would happen unless something is done, but can't seem to find the thread.

Maybe id get a better idea if i knew where the amp is located.

Pretty sure it's right next to the sub in the cargo area. I've had a pioneer head unit for 3 years and haven't had any issues with loss of audio quality. I didn't know that was an issue

I swapped my Monsoon head unit with a Pioneer one and have no problems. Make sure that the subwoofer function is turned ON in the radio settings. There are several different controls just for the sub alone. The amp is located drivers side rear compartment behind the plastic panel. Very easy to get to.

On the harness there is a tuner that tunes the audio it happened to me with my first head unit now that know how to do it I don't have any problems also I would get the wiring harness instructions off the internet since the paper instructions don't tell you about the tune

Thanks!
Please elaborate on the tuner. What should I look out for?

My harness has a "tuner" to change the chime volume when the the door is open, lights left on, etc. but that's it

So on the harness there is a rectangular box and on one of the side of the box is a blue circular knob and you have to use a screwdriver. What you do is play music and set the radio to like a volume of 30 and you adjust the blue thing and it tunes the sound

YES! this is very important. When i replaced my head unit i turned the tuner down thinking that it was only the chime. Spent about an hour re-soldering all of my connections with no luck just to call customer service and have them tell me that. ON a positive note all my connections are extra good. I replaced my head unit with a JVC KW-R500 which was only about $180 if i can remember correctly and i didn't lose any sound quality whatsoever

It's not difficult at all and you save money and you know the connections are correct if you install it yourself I was intimidated at first but it's as easy as changing a tire. All you need is a crimping tool and butt connectors and follow the instructions and we can help you pull apart your dash that's very easy: two fingers in the cigarette lighter (don't worry it won't shock you) and pull the assembly out disconnect everything and start putting thugs together. Oh and when you pull the stack put on the parking brake and put it into first gear for easy access

Anyone have a '09-'10 OEM stock stereo w/navigation that you've removed from your rig and replaced with an aftermarket unit that you are willing to part with?

I'd love to have the opportunity to take it off your hands if you are willing to sell it. Let's talk and thank you.

Thanks, never actually read the directions before. My chime is ridiculously loud and has been for 3 years, I've just been putting up with it because I don't hear it that often. Now that I know this I can tune my audio and soften that ear drum shattering chime
