My Photobucket posting rant

Thought I'd post this up more as an informational thing, even though it does drive me nuts. Photobucket isn't the only photo hosting page that does this. When you post a pic, make sure you get the IMG code before and after the link of the pic. Example:

This is how it has always been, until photo hosting pages decided they wanted to cash in. Most people haven't noticed it, but when they go to copy the link for their pics, they get their IMG code wrapped in the code of the host page. Example:

Noticed how this link has URL wrapped around the IMG code, and how you are rerouted to the photo hosting page? This is how the photo hosting page gets you to visit their page, and see all their ads. It's not really a big deal, but it makes the image loading so much slower. It also makes it a pain if you want to shuffle between all the pics of that post because it makes you have to go back to the post and then back again to the photo hosting page. The traditional way without the URL wrap, it lets you see all the images posted on that thread in one go.

Most people aren't probably aware that this is happening. It may be that it doesn't happen on certain browsers too. It does happen though on the mobile apps, and it really slows things down. Sometimes it even makes people skip seeing the pic because of the additional delay. You can keep ignoring if you choose, but I thought I would post this anyways so that people can be informed. Hopes this helps.

Thanks. Photobucket has always annoyed me. I pay for SmugMug,which might be overkill, but it works for me. I've had to do similar editing when using other photo sites.

Thanks for the tip. I use Photobucket and had noticed the change when clicking on pics. I have started to remove the URL code when posting.

It bugs the heck out of me when posting picture links. Grrr!

I noticed they changed this a while back. Easy solution for this and most other forums, click the "Direct" link instead of the "IMG" link in Photobucket then on the forum click the insert image button and ctrl-v the url in. Almost as easy as the old way and no manual editing out all the [URL junk.

Quick bump! Not hard to do this to avoid very slow loading pics. When I click on a pic, I want to see that pic and not a Photobucket page with a reduced version of the pic. Many times it takes forever to load because of all the additional annoying adds.
