Initially I wasn't going to post this on H4O because I didn't want to clutter up a Hummer forum with Corvette stuff. On second thought though, I realized most of us are car guys (and gals) and not just limited to one make. Even if you are not passionate about Corvette, the trip to Bowling Green Assembly and the National Corvette Museum is definitely worth it. I wasn't really sure what to expect before hand, but it really is a world class museum.

The assembly plant tour was really cool, however they are given by college interns. The one we had didn't even know how to pronounce "Michelin", so it would have been nice to have actually had someone with a little more knowledge. All the same, worth the $7.

Zora Arkus-Duntov's personal Corvette. Surprisingly, this is the only Corvette he ever owned. If you don't know who Duntov is, Google him-- you'll get more info than I can give -- but in a nutshell he's the guy that saved the Corvette from being a one or two model year failure.

I think every kid my age built the model kit of this car at some point. (Corvette Indy Concept)

Sinkhole Vettes. This is (was) the Mallet Hammer. Background was the 1.5 millionth Corvette.

Yes, there was a 1983 Corvette. Here it is.

Stretched C4 built by GM and equipped with a Falconner V-12 to test limits of the C4 chassis.

Not a Corvette, but part of a travelling Nascar exhibit at the museum. I'm a G-Body nut, so I had to include this one.

Yes, it is a great place. Back in my Vette days, when I lived south of Nashville, used to make a visit about three times a year for special occasions. Even stopped in and said hello after I sold the Vette and purchased my first H3.

I had an 82 and an 84 Corvette ( also had a 64 327/365 AC conv, 67 327/300 air, auto coupe, 71 T top, 74 Conv, another 84, an 82 t top, a 92, a 2004 50th anniversary conv( custom built with Z06 brakes, wheels, tires and 650 RWHP by the dyno and I am sure a number of others I can't think of at the moment. Nope never much cared for Corvettes. :) also spent a little time as President of Cowtown Vettes in Ft Worth back in the NCCC points trail glory days. Good times and good people.

Yeah, turned them all in for my $400.00 each after I poured cement down the intakes. Seemed like the socially and enviro friendly thing to do. What a bunch of ****ing idiots. Probably the same numb nuts that turn in their guns for $50.00 at the buy backs.

The sinkhole last year was a bummer. Heard they got all of them restored. Never been a fan of the vette, might be jaded by ******* owners. The C7, GM finally got there **** together. And actually love the design. Z06 with Z51 package, damn good looking vette.

heh to be clear, my MO is buy a C3 that is in the grave, exhume it, spend too much money on it restoring it, then sell it for the cost of parts. I plan on making a small fortune (from a large one) by doing it in volume.

as for the cash-for crap - I sold a single-shot shotgun to them, honesty, I was afraid to shoot it and I was hoping they would before they melted it down to make my new shotgun - which is what I bought with the cash card.

The museum is on my bucket list, but it is not conveniently located, so it might be awhile before I get there.
