I was pursuing the board and could not find a post, so I thought I'd start a thread - feel free to chime in if you want to. I am interested to see/read/hear what everyone else is using for Oil/Viscosity, filters(brand name). No particular reason except that it piques my interest. To kick it off:

Amsoil 5W30 Signature Series Oil
Amsoil EAO64-EA Filter
Oil drain interval: 7500 miles
Total cost(do it myself): $75

What are the best fluids for a 50K service? Front & rear Diff, Transfer case, and Transmission. $1200 at the local dealer seems a bit high for changing all the oils, and scanning for other issues to charge your wallet for...

Front and rear diff require synthetic, around 4 quarts total. Prices range about $11-$18 per quart. Very easy to do yourself, you just need to get a pump for the bottles. Transfer case is equally easy to do and while I cannot recall the cost it isn't expensive. You can do these three items yourself for under $100. I used Royal Purple for these three items.

Transmission - that depends on who you talk to about service but I think a transmission flush is about $150. I used whatever the dealer put in there.

As for oil changes: I generally replace with oil life monitor (from monthly Onstar reports) is below 40%. Nothing fancy oil or filter wise, just a good brand name. I did use a higher detergent oil last time I was concerned that I may have overexerted my oil when I ran for a while at two quarts low. Used Pennzoil.

I tend to let the dealer or another place do my engine oil changes as it costs less money than doing it myself.

WOLF'S HEAD 100% SYN 5W30 ($60 for case of 12)
Purolator PureONE PL12222 (99.9% efficency)
5K - 7K depending on how much wheeling was done.
Cost: around $33

(actually priceless since I do it myself and know it is done right! I also check under the front, center and rear of the Hs for anything out of the ordinary (loose, rusty, leaking, etc). Wire brush and spray paint anything that is starting to rust.)
