Replacement AM/FM antenna with CB

Just strolled upon this

antenna on amazon.
Supposedly, it replaces the stock AM/FM antenna and adds the functionality of a CB antenna. I already have a CB antenna installed on the opposite side of the stock radio antenna, so my first question is:
1) Would it be possible to hook up both for a boost in reception?
I can't find anything on how to hook this up as a single mount, much less a dual mount, so my second question is:
2) Does anybody know how to wire a CB to this kind of antenna?

Thanks for any info in advance, unless it's useless... :panda:

Interesting idea if it will work, don't get me wrong, if you get the correct connector and the correct crimper for squeezing that connector on to adapt this antenna, I assume it will work, for a dual use, I'm assuming you can just add or same thing, make a Y spliter, to accommodate both pieces of equipment you need to connect it to.

Hmmm....

I know it's possible to run 2 CB antennas but it's supposedly very complex to get it to work right. If you are using your CB only for talking between trucks on the trail then I don't think 2 CB antennas is worth the hassle.

If you want better reception and batter range, go get an entry level HAM radio license and then ditch the CB.

Edit: Also, if you were thinking about combining the trucks regular radio antenna with a CB antenna then keep in mind that when you transmit on the CB, then you'd send 4 watts of RF power directly in to the radio. I doubt that would be good for the radio.

you can broadcast on any metal rod. You can receive signals on any metal rod, including metal wire. With that said, receiving signals - it isn't that imperative to have a specific length of antenna. Longer antennas allow easier reception because they are more likely not to be blocked (really, simple physics of blockage).

broadcasting signals - Where tuning (and length - because you tune by length) comes in is on broadcast. You can use a coat hanger, but since the signal needs a specific resonance (and that is optimized by length) unless the coat hanger is the optimal length for the signal being broadcast - the signal won't go far.

You can broadcast multiple (and receive) different frequencies on a single antenna... but to broadcast, you need specific lengths.

And I'm not going to go into what those lengths are - take your HAM test, you'll understand this after reading 20 or so pages of material....

your original question "will it work" - the answer is yes, but not optimally. Multiple CB antennas are, for the most part, for symmetry on a vehicle - if you want better broadcasting, length really is everything (and watts, but that's yet another discussion). You can put a splitter on the line to broadcast and receive to both radio devices - the problem of interference will really manifest if you've got the am/fm radio on while broadcasting with your CB

Thanks! I'm familiar with all the technical stuff (length, position, co-phasing, etc.), just hadn't seen anything like it and was curious if anybody had some info on it. My current CB antenna is mounted on the side opposite the radio antenna, so it would've been helluva an easy way to run dual antennas.

I jave that antennaX. I have a firestik on my rear bumper for the cb. The antennaX is just for the am/fm radio. The connector is sized to screw into the old antenna spot. I got it cause it matches the firestik in the looks department.
