I was told years ago by an old consultant to try and keep say 10,000 cash in a safe at home, everyone in the world has become to dependent on that plastic in your pocket. He said all we would have to lose is power and we would be left helpless trying to get anything.

That's a good practice since the loss of the power grid will bring down ATM and cash registers. We do it as well, with a healthy mix of small bills. We store $2,000 with the following mix.

50 x $5
50 x $10
50 x $20

Since im young i don't have a lot of this stuff, but my parents are well prepared.

Here we go....
About 6 months worth of canned good and dry storage food and whatnot.
About 30 gallons of fuel (seems to grow each month)
Our water is supplied via a well, as is natural gas which allows us to be completely self sufficient once the generator gets installed.


For the end times...
(1) 9mm or .45 caliber carbine with matching side and ammo bag for each family member

(1) 2 week survival food back pack for each family member

Ungodly amounts of ammo for each weapon. Even though no one smokes them, we have a lot of cigarettes.
