Probably ok as a street car. Not really set up for Offroad use with a 19 degree approach angle and 21 degree departure angle. With a Hemi in it I would expect your gas bill to go up.

I am not a jeep guy but they are extremely fast. I raced one in my cayenne GTS and it destroyed me

My boss has one in white & it's a really awesome powerful! SUV.. The sound of it when it accelerates its great. The only down side like it was stated above is the gas mileage (you are going to be stopping a lot at the gas station) if the gas mileage doesn't bother you or your wife I say go for it
Great car but the low profile tires are a hassle ( my friend sold his coz his wife keeps blowing them up on pot holes, turns out as a very expensive repair as almost everytime the wheel gets bent so he ends up buying a new wheel/tire, not cheap)

We drove the last body version of the Jeep SRT and loved it most of all out of the available SRT models we drove, including that stupid no suspension lumbering SRT-10 Ram.
I really thought I wanted a 300 SRT (when they were available) but the Jeep was the most fun hands down to drive. I just didn't understand the Charger, it really was no fun and in my opinion an ugly four door hot rod.
The only problem I had with the Jeep SRT was the really weird lack of head room and the Night at the Roxbury head on the ceiling feeling all those Jeep models gave me. If they improved the headroom/seat adjustibility on these new models I'd be all for it. I measure in at 6 feet so you wouldn't think head room in a cabin would be an issue.
You guys are really talking about poor gas mileage and have HUMMER's?

Yeah, kind like saying the H is any worse than SRT. Hummers get HORRIBLE gas mileage. The 2015 Jeep SRT is 20 highway, 16 city...not bad.

I think something like the jeep SRT would be a great DD. I had a BMW x5M for a while, and I loved it as a DD. Loads of power/comfort/luxury.

Those gas mileage figures are only if you keep your foot out of it. Why get a Hemi and then try to pamper it for mileage?

We (wife and I) almost bought an SRT, owned a '14 5.7 Hemi Grand Cherokee for about a year, and currently have a '14 V6 Grand Cherokee.
First of all, you are either trolling or insane if you are getting the wife an SRT. Lol. If you are just insane, here's my personal experience:
There is no way in hell you will ever get the advertised fuel economy out of any of them. The V6 currently gets an average of about 18mpg. The V8 was about 16mpg.
The SRT is fun to drive fast and not too fun going to the grocery store. It steers like a dump truck at low speeds and you can feel the tires hit grain of sand though the steering wheel and suspension. This is great feedback if you are flying but annoying for a daily driver. Looks great and has a great interior.
I was racing an SRT in my 5.7 GC and the SRT pulled away pretty quickly. The "small" Hemi is fun and will light up all four tires if you try.
I'd highly recommend an Overland or Summit over the SRT for a daily driver.
Both Hemi's make great power with a nice feel. The transmissions are wonderful and "Sport" and "Track" mode actually do something. The Overland/Summit in sport mode is very fun to drive with aggressive engine braking and increased throttle response. The SRT (not sure if all years have it) in track mode is sick. Both of the V8's tick like hell and kind of scare me from a reliability point of view.
I'm a GM guy and they have really fallen short in this category.
Compared to an H2/H3, I don't like the seating position in any of the Grand Cherokees and for some reason I tend hit my head when getting in them. I'm only 5'8"

So it sounds like the Jeep SRT is over-kill as a DD? I'm passing my Hummer to my eldest Son the SRT will be for me, not really my wife.

Obviously you are the one paying for it so drive what you like. Test drive one and see what you think.

Test rode Jeep SRT and like it but the power is really amazing and this vehicle is not cheap. My concerns are over-power for a DD and extra attention caused. I was hoping the Hummer folks can advise what they think about this top model Jeep offered.

Lol that is typically not the best group of people to ask about Jeep performance products...
I will say that after owning three H3s, one H2, a couple range rover sports and now a porsche cayenne gts I find that if you can swing it, get the most powerful variant of whatever SUV you are the most comfortable in the drivers seat. Looking back I wish I had waited and purchased the turbo S. The thing about power and performance is once you get a taste of it, it is never enough. Even as a daily driver it is nice once and a while to put the pedal to the floor and smile as you get pressed into the seat of your SUV.

I didn't catch that previous quote about "extra attention caused"--my wife have talked about this in the past. Any of the SRT models are just upgraded versions of the most basic model offered for that line of vehicle. Hell, even the 300 offered an "SRT tribute" or whatever the hell the C model was with SRT wheels and badge but not the motor.
What I'm getting at is these cars aren't attention getting to people who aren't into SRT's; the SRT's just look sportier but don't garner loads of people drooling everywhere they go. We like to think they're special because to us they are, but to the majority of people they're just another car. What it boils down to is that a HUMMER is unique for looks and easily recognizable across the globe--SRT's, not so much. But don't' be disparaged, unless you know what a Subaru WRX STI is, it's just another ricer rolling down the road--and that's what my buddy just found out when he decided to race one in his 57 Chevy. That was a hell of a race and he had to go home and Google STi to even learn what had just kept up with his unbeatable Chevy.
