Traction Failed Service Traction Control System...ABS Fault messages plus CEL and ABS lights on. Scan tool shows the following 6 codes. Not sure why the 3 just repeat but is specifically listed them as 1-6 of 6 codes.

C0186 Lateral Accelerometer Circuit Malfunction
C0196 Yaw Rate Circuit Malfunction
U1651 Chassis System Dedicated Bus Sensor 1 Malfunction
C0186 Lateral Accelerometer Circuit Malfunction
C0196 Yaw Rate Circuit Malfunction
U1651 Chassis System Dedicated Bus Sensor 1 Malfunction

Clearing had no real effect as they would erase the dash lights would blink off, then immediately back on with the Traction Failed Service Traction Control System...ABS Fault message, and the codes would set again.

Also have a P0523 Engine oil pressure sensor circuit high voltage code... Guessing a bad sending unit.

Finally it has a P013B HOS2 Slow response lean rich sensor 2. Both rear bank 2 sensors show 99.2% STFT at .665 and .775 Volts. Bad O2 sensors??? 1 of the cats is new, I just don't remember which one.

All advice is welcome!!!

Thanks!

Matt

Well, we have to say it . . . you've got a strong battery and good quality, non-corroded terminals and cables? The H3 does weird things with low voltage.

Found this too.

I'm going to disconnect the battery too, and see if they reset. Battery is a crappy walmart one that struggles to crank. It has taken on quite a bit of water over the past couple of years with various sunroof drain leaks. So it could very well be a soaked yaw rate sensor. Time to start digging.

Thanks!

Codes and messaged disappeared after doing some maintenance. see here, Running hot solution test.

Had the battery out for several hours, cleaned up a ground and put in a 1 year old 700 CCA AGM battery. Just to see if the battery was an issue. Starts slightly better than the 1000 CCA flooded walmart battery. Three codes were still stored but cleared out and did not come back.

Later,

All of us have found out that these H3s are extremely sensitive to voltage fluctuations. Good battery and aftermarket battery cable terminals are a MUST!

Yeah, the PO put some junky terminals on it that screw down the cables to the terminal. Probably better than stock. It still drags when cranking. Like it's struggling to turn. Almost like the batt is a touch low, but I know it has a full charge. Eventually I'll get around to all marine grade tinned copper OO AWG cables crimped, soldered, to tinned marine grade terminals, and sealed with MILSPEC Self sealing heat shrink tubing like I did on my boat.

Had OEM terminals that wouldn't tighten down. Threw them away and installed Stinger battery terminals [SPT53102 for the positive and SPT53302 for the negative] on my 2006 H3. Well worth the money.

I have received these similar faults as well. I am currently getting a P0336 (btw I have an '09 C.E. w/ 5.3 V8), I am planning to replace the Crankshaft and Camshaft Position Sensors and I just replaced a 5-pin relay (HSIN DA 961A-1C-12DM) for a SPAL fan for Aux. Transmission Cooler...it was non waterproof (IP68). I replaced it with a Painless Performance (P/N 80129
$14.99
Weatherproof Relay, Base Seal, Terminal (35 amp)). I kept having a parasitic ground/battery drain and this was definitely it or at least one possible continuous ground. If I am learning anything - these H3s definitely have gremlins, for as basic and reliable, as some of the components are...these trucks can be sensitive and difficult...GM needed to keep working out a few things, versus kill off the HUMMER brand.

Not to steal this thread, but after I replace these sensors, are there any relearn procedures, I should expect to have to do? Or do I just need to swap out and go with it???

Not sure on a re-learn. I think mine was simply a super weak starter draining my battery causing the codes. New starter really improved starting.

Good luck!
