Hey H4O! I just posted another video to my YouTube channel on installing a custom carbon fiber steering wheel. Some of you out there may not be familiar, but there are a number of specialty automotive shops that can customize and make custom steering wheels for any make/model of vehicle. You can customize everything yourself including materials, colors, wheel style, and add accessories like a heated option or a LED gearshift indicator with multifunction display. In this video, we go over how to safely take off the old steering wheel and replace it with a new one and then go over my overall thoughts and opinions on it. The specific company that made this steering wheel is AZA Auto Wheel, a shop that specializes in making custom steering wheels. Per their website, each steering wheel takes anywhere from 21 to 30 hours to complete start to finish.

This is the company where my custom steering wheel came from: https://azaautowheel.com/

Those guys are awesome and are super flexible with making any kind of custom steering wheel you want. You know what would be cool, if you can add steering wheel controls or a heated steering wheel to one of these. In order to do this, you would need to modify the clock spring. Either getting a different clock spring from another GM vehicle that has a multifunction steering wheel or possibly modifying the stock H3 one by replacing the ribbon in the clock spring with one that supports more channels for additional 12V wires.

That's a good question. I'm guessing if you ask the company to do that they would be able to, however the steering wheel controls would most likely need to be wireless and operated off of a watch battery for it to work. Running wired steering wheel controls would be a lot more complicated because you would need to run them through the clock spring, and for that you would need to modify it and insert a bigger ribbon cable with more wiring for the additional steering wheel controls. Wireless steering wheel controls do exist out there, but most of them work only with the Android based head units through Bluetooth, and I'm guessing they would not work with traditional head unit brands like Kenwood, JVC, Pioneer, Alpine, etc.

I placed my order with AzaAutoWheel on June 8th so I'm excited to be hopefully receiving it soon. So far they have been great communication wise.

Awesome! From what I know I think their current lead time is around like 9 weeks due to high demand.
