You have to customize dont assume what you think somebody just turns up the torsion bars because that all you can do there are a few ways to get a desired lift. What is what is your torsion bars just a little and a body lift or a lift kit

Well, my vision of a Huggy, trail, Baja, KOH truck jumped into my lap.

It’s going to sit for a while as I wrap mine up, but I will feel no remorse taking a sawzall to any part of this truck. Always feels good to save something from going to the scrapyard

replaced all 5 injectors, had the N1 bad. I decided to replace all 5, took me all day , changed my alternator as well cause he gave up and didn't charge anymore.
All is fine now, no codes and the H3 is running like new.
Next will be the inner rocker panel on both sides....the rust got them both but just the driver side is eaten up. ......if i find them new 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 I'll take all help or tips ....

I always enjoyed this thread, seeing what everyone else was up to with their H3. It kind of died out. I'll try to revive it. Camping this weekend. It rained off and on, so I used the trailer instead of the roof top tent. Still had fun and splashed around in the mud on the trails a little

Added a crossmember!
Backstory: When you do a SAS, you must remove all the crossmembers forward of the tranny. In most cases, the owner already has an aftermarket front bumper that acts like a crossmember...and it not a big deal. But anytime you remove the front bumper, the frame rails tend to take off in different directions. After all...the only thing holding them in alignment is the motor (mounted to each frame rail with rubber mounts). So when working on my latest bumper creation...I had a beyotch of a time getting the bumper bolt holes to line up. So it was finally time to do what 06H3 did a few years ago. This isn't really a structural mod (the front bumper does that quite well) but rather a convenience piece to make the bumper easier to get on/off. Those of you doing SAS's might want to consider this mod.
First...ratchet-strap the rails and pull them back into position...

Then cut a piece of tubing to fit...

Then buzz it in (don't forget to disconnect the battery)...

Add some primer & paint...

Reinstall the bumper...wheel on!
If you have done the SAS and still run the stock tinfoil bumper...this mod is a must-do. At the very minimum, install a stiffener plate behind the front bumper. This will help to keep the frame rails in place.

I am really glad 4speedfunk posted this. I'd been driving around with my bumper off for the last 2 weeks, some of that on logging roads. There seems to be a 'click' similar to a worn drag link, or a worn-out tracbar in a jeep. I'm gonna get that thing back on ASAP. This truck came with an aftermarket winch bumper> when i got it there was a bracket in the box from the PO that looks like the one shown here. I threw it behind my shed, but i'm gonna dig it out tomorrow. :)

so ...on it's way from Australia ...... like the chips from Ultimate9 Products , I've ordered the Pedaltech chip. It can deliver the whole power on demand at lowest RPM and any gear, It's a plug and play on te Gas pedal , 9 different positions to choose , for towing, off road, Sport+Race or Eco......
I 'will report asap. that I got it on and tested.....

Better late than never!!! Finally, after years of searching I have a Rancho lift on my H3. Took a while to get everything sorted between sourcing parts, vehicles, and just figuring out the overall final plan.

About a year and a half ago Rascole hooked me up with H-D tie rods, a locking front axle, and a rear locker. Shortly after, I had the tie rods and a steering rack stabilizer installed which GREATLY improved the handling. I was also dealing with a pretty saggy rear end. Years of multi-hundred pound load outs for camping trips took their toll and I suffered from acute "Carolina Lean" syndrome. I had a set of Old Man Emu leaf springs installed which brought me up quite a bit in the back. Here's a pic to show the rake OME leaf springs cause with the torsion bars cranked to 23.5"...

View attachment 31675

After that, the truck stayed the same for a while. I started to despise the rake, just as I did back when the truck was stock. So I started desperately looking for a Rancho lift and found one in the absolutely CLEANEST 17 year old 200k mile H3 vehicle I've ever seen. I picked that rig up in the Fall of last year. In December, I parted ways with Nitto Mud Grapplers and went with Toyo Open Country M/T's. I was mainly sick of the vague and rough on road performance, although I do miss the look and the sound. I wanted to keep the OEM wheels, I like the look more than most aftermarket wheels so I stuck with 315/75R16's. That decision also gave my wallet a break with all the other work being done.

In order to keep the wheels, I went with 1.75" Bora spacers. They look and feel great, unfortunately I forgot to get a pic of them for this post. I torqued them down with red loctite. They put the tires out about a quarter of an inch away from the tie rods on the Rancho knuckles, plenty of room. The day before I took the trucks to a local shop, I also installed an S-Pod switch. Huge thanks to Acer4LO for your YouTube video, wouldn't have been able to do it without you... nor would I have ever had the idea.

I had the shop fabricate a mounting plate for the actual "pod" in the engine bay, right behind the battery.

The shop swapped the lift onto my truck and my stock components to the donor vehicle. They also installed the locking front axle from Rascole and the rear locking diff internals. Diffs are now up to 4.56 from the stock 4.10s. Sadly the rear locker magnet needs to get replaced, but for the mean time I'm just running an open rear diff. I'll get around to it in a couple of months. Shift points didn't seem bad when I drove, but the speedo is between 5-10 MPH off depending on the speed. I'm going to work with PCM to get a tune, hoping that fixes the low end lag too. I expected quite a bit more pep off the line, moving from 4.10s to 4.56s, but oddly it's sort of sluggish.

I personally thought the donor vehicle looked too high with the (what I believe to be) Rancho leaf springs. Considering I just put on new OME leaves, I left the rear springs on their respective vehicles. I also felt the donor truck was very stiff when I had driven it before the swap and anticipated the leaf springs were partly responsible. The shop "de-cranked" my torsion bars to the point where the H3 sits level front to back. My CV's are sitting parallel to the ground now, surprising amount of improvement on the suspension feel. I forgot how much of a sacrifice in ride quality that was when I initially cranked them.

Overall, I'm very happy with the look and feel. I drove it about 100 miles today and every minute I was smiling ear to ear. Just enough height and clearance with a perfect stance on the tires. I anticipate a lot more articulation on the trails and I'm very excited to use that/those locker(s) too. Thank you to Rascole, Acer4LO, and a few other members who've provided a piece to my rig over the years, this build wouldn't have been possible without you guys. Aside from a few cosmetic things and fixing the rear locker, my build is finally done.

My H3 started as a bare bones Alpha from CarMax with not a single inch on unpaved roads under its belt, nerf bars, and 31" radials to boot. She's sitting exactly where I imagined her to turn out when I bought her, almost 8 years ago to the day. It's been a fun journey building her up. Some things didn't pan out the way I wanted, but over time I dialed her into what I always imagined. I know the forum isn't as popular as it used to be, but I'm really happy to be able to share this with those of you who still linger around.

Ironically, this was supposed to be a short post and I was going to direct you all to my build thread, but I guess I'll just re-post there for easy finding in the future.
It looks AWESOME! I am hoping to be back into another H3 soon. I should find out this week. I had a 2006 and never should have sold it. Kudos to you for sticking with your goals for your H3. Congrats!

I installed a GMRS radio in place of the OnStar module.

cold & windy
we reminded ourselves how much the H3 hates climbing hills with a trailer.
wife & i were helping some of her friends move across town, and she wanted another practice session to get comfortable towing. did alright until we got home & she tried backing it into our driveway / trailer pad around trees, two turns, and on a 4% slope... but at least she didn't hit nothing or jackknife it. the clutch still works, too... could smell it, but it still works.

Today is July 24th, 2024, and in this video, I discuss the development of the 2nd generation H3 Hummer rock sliders. The prototype shown in the video is just a 1/4 cut section for measurements and adjustments. The production version will run the entire length of the rocker panels underneath the H3 Hummer doors. This design is more than a rock slider it is more of a Rocker Panel Skid Plates 5051 aluminum 3/8 inch thick. With a 1/8-inch step plate, the final design will have a total of 7 ribs made of 3/8 inch bent for supporting and adding strength to the skid plate. Only the step plate and the four steel 3/8-inch bent brackets will come powder-coated to show off the high-quality aluminum. Thanks for watching. PS - This design will allow me to easily make H3T versions with the same parts :)

Love that you’re continuing to come out with new parts for our rigs. One thought/suggestion since you asked, would it be to offer a different style mount. Since you indicated these are Modular, offer a mount that would work with trucks that are body lifted. This would be wonderful for some of your customers with the Daystar 1” body lift. This would avoid the unsightly gap you see in trucks with sliders and a body lift. Nothing would change but the mounts you offer.

Very possible in the future. I'm currently limited on cash to invest, but with enough demand, it would be no problem.

The image below might be the final design changes for the complete Driver Side 2nd Gen Rock Slider I've been working on. Having tested the 1/4 prototype and made many changes and adjustments. Along with major aesthetic improvements. I just put an order for a few of the parts from the image below. (The outside edges are 1/2-inch thick of aluminum, wanted overkill)

My old 06 H3 Adventure saved my life in a head-on collision from a stolen U-Haul driven by a meth-head. I recently acquired an 09 Alpha Lux+Adv that I'm looking forward to taking to the trails up here. I saved a few of the good/rare bits from the old one to put on the new one. A Defelice Innovations winch bumper, some Schwarttzy sliders and a few other bits.
