H1 owners - Whenever i am talking to a local H1 owner about how they get together & offroad they discuss spending time wrenching and wheeling -- meaning that they anticipate spending as much time together working on their rigs as offroading. Is it more common among the H1 subset of wheelers to spend a lot of time helping each other out on maintaining their rigs so that they are working?

Curious on the bond among H1 owners as well as the time it takes to keep this running.

kflips,
You really need to get out to Moab some day for BSHS week - where the same bonds that you describe are ever-present during BSHS week whether you drive an H1, H2, H3, H3t, Toyota, Jeep or whatever you come to wheel with. The entire week is a big social event that is filled with wheeling, wrenching and hanging out at the Outpost and forming those bonds/friendships. From my experience, some days there might be more wrenching than wheeling - it just depends on who needs some help with their rigs or mods on any particular day. It truly is a brotherhood/sisterhood that forms while your there, and that you continue to feel even after you've left because of the people & it is that, that brings you back again. It's hard to explain really - so try to get there someday & you will see what I mean.

There seems to be a lot of H1 owners that get together to help and teach eachother. Like Bigunit said come to Moab and you will experience exactly what he said. I have had great trips and wheeled all week and driven home and had weeks where we worked on the truck more than I drive it. But in Moab when I have had issues everyone helps. The Blacksheep are like family.

To answer your question better the H1 groups seem to be more organized in some areas and get together several times a year to have work days. I am trying to get a group started in Dallas right now and am planning a work day soon before I go to Moab but I will be inviting anyone not just H1 owners.

I think part of the H1 wrenching thing is that the average H1 is quite a bit older than, say, your typical H3.

Well since there are maybe 12-15 H1 owners in all of south dakota but only 3-5 I know of and only 1 i've met, and he is in sioux falls. I don't think i do that much wrenching on my H1 because there usually is'nt anything wrong. But with Trevon who might be getting a H1 I might do some more :)

The H1 group does seem to be pretty tight. If one truck has an issue everyone will jump in to get it fixed. On Humvee.net you frequently see guys having wrenching parties. Tustin Hummer has even had wrenching days at the dealership where you could use their lifts and tools while Mike and his techs provided advice and support. Great way to learn about your truck.Like Luis said, the BlackSheep are just like that. If someone has an issue whoever can help does. Jeep, Yota, Hummer, does't matter, your rig will get repaired. Never run with a better group of people anytime, anywhere.
