3" body lift and 37's

To figure out a way to move the rear bumper up would require some cutting and welding, the gap in the front would look decent with a LED bar shoved in there or a winch setup with the rest of the gaps filled.

I digg it!

How does that high of a bodylift affect handling?

Center of gravity changed. So I'm sure it wouldn't corner as good as stock. But then an offset could fix that

I have only body lifted one vehicle before, that was my 2000 Xterra, and it didn't seem to effect the COG by any noticeable amount... Must have been since I didn't have my roof rack loaded down with gear

I'm curious about the intermediate steering shaft. After all...the body gets lifted (along with the column) but, the rack stays bolted to the frame. This shaft is about 8" long and it telescopes +/- an inch or so. It also has a tiny u-joint on it. I think 1" is okay but, 3" has got to be pushing the limit of what it can take. I wonder if this guy lengthened it or not.

I would think that they used the same extension that you would for a colorado?! Maybe possible I'm not 100% sure if the steering shafts are the same as colorado/canyons.

If they were smart, they would use one of the "Flaming River" products.

Been around a while and make some nice replacements if you need a steering shaft longer than stock or with special u-joints.

As far as the body lift itself goes (and ignoring the performance issues), I like what they did.

I'd love to see a write-up on the install.

Regarding the COG issue brought up earlier, would that not be a moot point being that he widened the vehicle's stance considerably with those big azz tires?

Checks and balances so to speak?

He would need to be 1-1.5" wider than stock on each side in order to get back to stock COG (assuming the body is 1/3 to 1/2 of the total weight of the H3)

I'd be up for giving this a shot, I think I seen those 3 in body lift spacer somewhere besides the usual daystar kit...I'm sure with the widen of the 37's itself would set even the whole COG and add to it my 1.75 in wheel adapters and that COG Should Be More Than Balanced.

Im running less offset wheels (same as 2" spacers" and my truck barely clears 35s with mu 1" B.L.
IMO a 2" B.L. may clear 37s with the same setup (a wide 37 may not though).

A rancho lift solves the whole issue though ....

I run the stock rims with 35's and have no problem with them fitting or clearing, except when wheeling and the trucks flexed to maximum then I get rub...but I do agree with you with a 2-3' in body lift and rancho ther should be no problem...hell at the point even 40's could go in there with no problem like the other guys h3 with 40's but that's just too over kill for me and pushing your luck and your I5 engine to the extreme.

If you're doing more than 1" everything you need would be custom. The radiator hoses are stretched already with 1", so is the steering shaft. You will also need to fab something to hide the gap between the bumper and the body.

Sorry! Your post looked questionable . . .

So, you will have two problems for sure. The radiator shroud and steering linkage. The lower part of the shroud will simply rotate up and out of the way. The steering linkage may pose an issue. I did a 1" lift and put the linkage extended as far as it will go. You may need to fabricate a new bar in between.

The brake lines should be fine to accommodate another inch of lift. Lifting any higher than two inches may require more investigation.

Hope this helps.

The shop that did this is MXV Tecnologia Off Road out of São Paulo. Their web page shows body lifts, but not for the H3. If you want to know more about the conversion you'll have to email them. Of course I don't know if they speak English or not. If I had more motivation I would do it, but I'm still not 100% sure I'm ready to make the jump to 37's. Living in Brazil I never got on the interstate highways, most of the driving is done around town and I doubt that the guy who can pay $60k for an H3 would worry about the price of the $2k body lift or the gasoline. Well, I take that back...gas is crazy expensive there!

One of the members (used to own an H3,from Colorado?) was going to do a 2" body lift but I believe the other forum members talked him out of it. I don't know of any current members who have a 2" body lift but I bet that someone has done it to their H3 elsewhere.

I've asked the company who lifted this h3 if they offered a kit and they said no. I also asked if they could help with the installation if I did it myself and they said no there was too much modification that you must do to help walk me through it.
