I would seriously reconsider going. Last time on JB I was towed like a dinghy and that was dry. I'm locked front and rear and can crawl, lower gearing plus tcase.
JB is a hard ass trail for Hummers, we have learned that.
Not being licked and no 4.10, I think you are going to have some serious issues. First time when it was dry, we tugged a 3 most of the day. It wasn't lifted, but same as you. Talk to Craig about JB

Yeah I'm opting out since I have work that night, and don't want to break something or get stuck. I'm guessing I'm just gonna have to wait

But even the videos don't make look so bad...I'm gonna check it by myself today.

The pics and videos don't do it justice. Trust me on that. The only Hummer I've seen do it with no problem was Franco's lifted H1 on 40's. The rock garden after the gatekeeper, the rocks/boulders move. So, the line the guy took in front of you is probably going to be different for you

John Bull is a doable trail for hummers. Just not stock hummers (h1s excluded) I have yet to see a budget boosted jeep do it, which is essentially what a t bar crank is. Now years ago stock rigs could do it. My buddy ran it 6 years ago in his grand Cherokee on 31s and a budget boost with no
Issues, last time he did it he was long armed 35s and built and he pulled cable. First time I ran it was rancho lift one locker no 4:1 and got stuck 2 or 3 times. I ran deavers then and those things were land anchors compared to rancho leaves. They hung so low. Spring over rancho was a non issue with ****ty tires. I know the lines now and have ran front to back and back to front with no issues. A rancho lift with rancho springs and no spring over can do it with no issues depending on the driver. Stock it can be done but patience and good driving is a must and you still might get stuck. I can lead anyone on it if they are willing to pull cable get stuck and push your rig.

Next time it snows I wanna get up there seeing I know the entrance now for winter. During winter all typical entrances are closed. JB is not bad for me dry so I wanna try it in snow now

For someone more interested in pre running over rock crawling, would you think the deavers are better or an SOA with stock leafs is enough?

Deavers kicked ass in high speed. I've brought my H3 airborne Plenty of times when you would land and it felt like a cushion.

Stockers land ok but deavers better. If you could get deavers for a stock pack and run a soa that would be awesome for high speed and clearance

I never saw any cracks. They must of been hairline. Either way a crack is a crack. Just wish I saw some pics of it, or donated it to 4speed who could of used it to retrofit it with brackets to accept another diff.

Yeah, I know. I had many second thoughts over it. I really didn't want to see it get put on someone's truck and cause an accident. That would be much worse.

I still need to get the steering knuckles sent off to SBG. I haven't been able to do much since I wrenched my back.

If it had cracks I would never offer it up to someone but I know exact concerns you had. No worries, You gave me the 4:1 to mess around with years back and that could of ended up in the garbage if it wasn't salvageable . Either way, dont sweat it. I gave your a heavily used rancho lift. It was beat on and it was a learning lesson for me, I dont think I ever retorqued the bolts, if they moved loose that could crack it, not being the rancho kits fault.

I spoke to the rancho contact on pirate in detail through PMs a while back and said if I ever needed anything they would help me out. Who knows, I could of gotten a new one heavily discounted. Either way dont sweat it, its in the past and no hard feelings at all. Could of, would of, should of, lifes too short for all the what if's.

Yeah, pics and videos are usually short on showing what really thinks look like. Unfortunately I was not able to reach JB yesterday the girl's boy friend truck she end up riding with. The guys truck t case 4x4 was busted or something and all he had was 2wd, we made to the first to mild hard hill climbs and then he got stuck pretty bad...took me 2 hrs to getting him unstuck. And by then it was starting to get dark...so we didn't finish the run.

I'm done for all that listed lol...and then some...(breaking **** lol).
There was an H3 non lifted, but with everything else(adv pkg, lockers, 35's, UCP, sliders) that tried JB with the guys I was gonna go tag alone yesterday, but end up not going with them because the organizer was behaving somewhat of a dick. Anyways the guys that went with him said the H3 driver broke his steering rack.

I watched some Youtube vids. Looked like a drive to the mall :giggle:
Doesn't it ??!!! Lol...the boulders merely look like a priuse mall gathering. XP

Did the guy that went have an alpha that was blue I've met him he has gone through 4 front diffs and a ton of steering racks and even rolled his h3.

Sounds like he needs to wheel with us I'm sure most of it is preventable.

Nah it was a grey color like the one abntroop has(I know I'm messing up his name). And I'm guessing he needs to most definitely wheel with us. I didn't saw him driving in trail before, so I can't speak of driving skill. However all others guys that I met in the 2 prior runs, they aren't shy with the accelerator.
I and even my wife came to the conclusion they need practice. I mean I'm by far a experience individual, and I can see that their method of choice is "floor it, throttle it" and I learned from wheeling with you guys that this method only break sh!t. And they said they have 2 more casualties but not as severe. But they literally had rig running with some skinny looking axels, for the size tires they were running (37 +). Oh well I'll just play it safe and remember and used what I've pick up from wheeling with the SoCal Crew.

yea, thats a shame. Not all jeep/yota guys are like that but they are under the category of why people claim 35s cant last on a dana 30 or 37s on a dana 44 and they believe dana 60s are king for everything. All the non hummer guys I wheel with wheel tough trails but keep there axles together by wheeling smart. Granted, for the amount of abuse my H3 took my front end lasted very well. Never killed a rack. front diff was before I wheeled with a crew that taught steady throttle so that was using the hammer down method. 2nd diff was after 3 years of hard use and the pinion barely had minor chip it in. 3rd diff was setup incorrectly and killed it and I never killed my 4th diff. Out of all 4 diffs only one broke due to normal use and that was after years of abuse on tough trails including johnson valley hammer trails, moab 2 times, all over so cal. Driver has a big thing to do with it.
