Hey all,
I'm new to this forum, but not new to some other forums. I got into driving off-road because my buddy said come on out in my old Grand Cherokee years ago and I was bit instantly. Mod the crap out of the thing up till realized I had gone to far, and want to get a less modified vehicle. SO, I was going to buy a newer Unlimited(four door) Rubicon Wrangler, but quickly found out that they are to expensive for my tastes. I laugh all the time at this, but I ended getting an H3 Hummer because first and for most "It was cheeper." I Bought the H3 Hummer back in October. It's Black on Black with leather, premium sound with factory sub-woofer, sunroof (couldn't own the vehicle with out it), Adventure Package, and Towing Package. Even came with the the factory crappy step bars.
But hey I extremely happy it worked out that way, because I still want to drive off-road, but the trails don't need to be that hard any more to be fun. Also I end up picking a fight that I'm actually happy that I did because I'm trying to make it one of my new job. I feel all cocky like in Braveheart where they ask him "And where are you going?" and he responds with "To pick a fight." Long story short, I think Rock Sliders should protect the entire rocker panel, come powder coated, have people think their factory at first glance, and cost less than $1000 dollars.
I have just recently beat that thousand dollar mark by more than I expected I could, they only cost $650 powder coated black. But I ran into a bunch of problems along the way and have cut a lot of weak links in the chain. As of week or so today have purchase a Hobart MVP 210 welder (thing is AWESOME!), found a shop that does laser cutting locally, and found out my buddy Dale at Schwarz Preformance could help me out with absolute perfect bends for the tubes.
SO that is where I'm at with the Hummer stuff, besides an High Clearance Leaf Spring Mount I'm working on, but for a job I'm Web Designer and have my own website at http://schwarttzy.com/ and that pretty much occupies all my extra time. I say Web Designer, but I really just make themes for WordPress because it just makes everything so easy to work with. And if I do it right, I never meet or speak to my customers, hell even be awake for them to pay. I pretty much do anything outdoors, the more crazy it sound the more likely, but the main ones that I enjoy the most are Sky Diving, Rock Climbing, and Camping.
Hope to eventually become a vendor on here, but I don't have any cash at the moment, so I guess that depends on if I can actually start selling stuff for our Hummers.
