Honestly, with modern cat design, you wouldn't notice any difference. They are not anything like the old highly restrictive ones from 20-30 years ago.

Anyway, cat or resonator I will remove it. I am thinking to put a cherry bomb glasspack. Only a friend of mine said can be too close to the engine, possible premature erosion of the inside insulator. Actually the that can is located in the middle of the vehicle (see photo, part 1). I do not not if it is too close. He suggested to remove the cat and put a straight pipe, then back further put the cherry bomb. What do you think?

Well, if you're going to remove it no matter what, then just use pipe. A cherry bomb certainly isn't Bing to do much for you there.

Not sure how it is on H3. But removing the cut is reducing the emission. If you will take it off, you will have to put it back on for the emission test.

My dealer said it is not the cat but it is just a resonator. I will in the first place I will remove it and I will put a straight pipe. Let's see. After that I will think to put a glass pack or not.

does the resonator restrick air flow?..... i hear about doing the resonator delete an im jus wondering why is all, if it does im thinking about replacing it with striaght pipe.....

and im thinking bout doing this free mod..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IV3vtv5T2Ww doesnt sound too too loud....

Yea, I had a lowered sport car with like 3" of ground clearance and i got in the little pot hole on the highway that caught my muffler and tore it of the car. The sound was a bit loud but I did not mind, but police did. I got pulled a few time for having a loud exhaust in Maryland, but cops here are insane. The biggest concern was that every time i would stop on the red light, all the smoke from exhaust would go in the interior. Would give a headache. This thing is dangerous. Do not leave the pipe end under the body, always extend it out behind rear bumper.

I don't want to get off topic too much but speaking of loud exhaust here is a clip of the exact same exhaust I have on my VMax.
I have the same exact motorcycle minus the skulls, and I have a chrome exhaust tip.

I just got the chance to pick up a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust for my 06 I5 for $475 w/shipping. it has never been installed and is still in the box so is that a good deal? it is the one with the dual tipped muffler.3K53Gf3Hd5I75G15W0can520c16e36d021664.jpg 3Mc3Ld3If5N75E95J3can66a3693e097c11b7.jpg

here is what it sounds like with no muffler or resonator, just a cat

I actually bought the magnaflow cat back and I like it a lot. Paired with the ported throttle body, and air doc intake, it made a decent gain in performance, and it sounds really good too. Not to loud, a deep rumble, and when on the gas it gets loud and sounds good. Having it setup like it is the in video is extremely loud, I think it would not have that much more performance over the magnaflow since its a high flow exhaust system, if you want when I get a chance I will take a video of my magnaflow

If it would affect you decision ,I believe exaust cut outs are illegal in the great state of NJ. Even the y pipes with bolt on plates.

To tell you the truth, there has been a lot of talk about headers on the h3, some say its worth the $800, some say its not worth the cost, the magnaflow header will maybe add a couple hp at most, since its the same exact thing as the stock header, but with a "high flow" cat. If you want to save some money, people on the Colorado forum have just gutted the exhaust manifold cat, and they have gained 10 dyno proven hp.

After removing the resonator (oval thing with 2 grids inside located about in the front middle of the vehicle), did you smell anything using the vehicle (gasoline smell, etc.)?
