'06 H2 roof rattle

As mentioned elsewhere, I bought an H2 on Saturday and it has a loud rattle at highway speeds. As we all know, sounds tend to travel in vehicles and it's not always easy to tell where it's coming from, but it really sounds like it's coming from the top of the windshield or front roof lights on the drivers side. I just checked the roof lights, XM antenna, etc. and everything felt pretty solid. Opening the sunroof doesn't make a difference, but changing direction (highway turns) seems to, which goes along with my theory that it's something wiggling from wind.

Any ideas?

You might check the plastic A-pillar covers. They are notorious for rattling against the windshield. Fixes are using two sided 3M tape, or silicone to stick it down.

You might also check the rubber trim across the top of the windshield. Mine started coming loose and firing against the roof.

X2 on pillar moldings. At freeway way speeds there vibrate and hit the windshield.

I'm not sure I understand, are you guys saying I shouldn't be looking on the roof but instead on the A pillar moldings? :giggle:

Ok, I'll check that. Last night I was driving home and instead of turning up the radio I turned it down and really tried to listen. Pretty sure there are two distinct but similar rattles. Possibly A pillar AND rubber windshield trim? I'm trying to get it into my preferred dealership to have them go through it with a fine toothed comb, but if I can't get it into them today I'll probably go pick up some double sided tape and make those areas as solid as I can.

X4 on the A pillar moulding (as the others stated) still hesitate, not sure, test it, use a gorilla duct tape, or any duct tape, tape over it, drive it, pretty sure the noise will go away, mine did, I used RV silicone, comes in clear or black, Autozone carries it or any other car parts store.

I dropped it back to the dealership I bought it from for this and some other things and asked them to make it right. A pillar, rubber windshield trim, and air intake cover - according to the shop off of these were loose and in need of attention. I'm supposed to get it back today so I'll know soon if all the rattling is fixed.

Oh, sorry - roof rattle is gone. There is a tiny bit of rattle when the sunroof is open, but I'm not sure if that's just a bit of left-over rattle that you can only hear with the sunroof is open or if it's the sunroof itself. Either way, it's not an issue and I consider it resolved.
