Then you have things the manual probably isn't going to tell you:
-Check the steering rack bushings (they aren't long-lived)
-Check the upper control arm ball joints
-Lift up on the inner CV on the driver's side ...for excessive up/down slop ..play.
-How's the intermediate steering shaft?
-Front wheel bearings good?
-Remove the sunroof and clean up the gasket with warm soapy water. A lot of gunk can get on/under/around it
-Battery cable clamps/connections any good?
-Squirt oil around the frame/doors, etc (for those in the rust-belt regions) ...Not CA
-Exchange brake fluid (ok, that's probably in the manual)
-If you plan to keep it a long time, it might be a good idea to remove the front driveshaft & split it, and re-lube the splines (mark both sides). Because driveshafts are hard to find & expensive.
-Get a step, or nerf bars and use them to lift yourself "up" and into the seat ...instead of sliding in/out...which wears the upholstery & outer foam. You can't really get replacements anymore. So preserve what you have. Apply saddle-soap (or whatever) if it's leather.
-Whatever parts you need now to fix current issues, or *think* you'll need in the near future, might want to stock up on.
-Might not hurt to switch over to using a good synthetic oil. Might extend your engine's life. These engines are incredibly expensive to rebuild, and really difficult to find used. IDK if any pro outfit is currently rebuilding these at the moment.
Enjoy the heck out of it!!
