H3 Another H3 with the dreaded idle miss!

So I went from Colorado to Wisconsin for Christmas to take my daughter to see her gamma and papa. When does the H3 decide to act up? Of course in the middle of Iowa! Away from my tools and scanner. Luckily I started as a tech at a Chevy store in Milwaukee so I figured I would pay them a visit. Sure enough p0304 miss only at idle. Under load no miss! So I limped it home and am taking it in tomorrow to do the leak down test with results I'm sure that will be no bueno! Luckily it is under 5/100! So the reason for the post! I found a PIP from gm for idle miss for 2006-2010 (all inline motors). It relates to valve seat wear. Can anyone tell me (f5moab :) ) if the new heads have updated valve seats? (ie: harder seats?) The pip # is pip4013c released aug 24 2011. So if I get this right now the head issue was not corrected in 2007 as we previously believed as this supersedes pip 4013b? O joy! If anyone wants the pip message me I can email it!

I can't answer your question but I am getting my truck back tomorrow (hopefully) with a new head on it.

BTW, mine was not missing and my only code was P0300, general misfire. That code has come on once ever month or two for two years, lasting about one day. I'm hoping this takes care of my oil burning issue which, ironically, I was going to work on this coming weekend. Not sure if I'm going to notice a real driving improvement but I may. The truck didn't go in for a head or engine issue; it was a diagnosis they came too after the CEL light was on. But this might help explain why my mpg is about 1 mpg less than a year ago.

that's great! I have the p 300 code with misses at idle and at low rpm, what is the pip? does it help us out of warranty guys get this repaired?

Of course right more it is running fine. Going to try a new camshaft sensor and check the spark plugs.

It's for leaking valve seal mine was #4. It is only under the factory warranty or the power train warranty that they will cover it. If you want to know if this is the fix have someone do a leak down test. If it fails it will need a head.
