Another PS pump and rack

Thanks to Reloader (of course) for helping me (doing most of the work) install a new PS pump and rack today. 2nd replacement of each for the truck, but these each lasted about 100K miles after the original ones failed not longer after 50K miles.

Ended up with a reman from O'Reilly. Normally wouldn't go that route, but for $92 vs. $270 for GM I had to give it a try. It actually may be a new aftermarket one in a reman box since it had zero signs of previous use from scratches, smoothed casting edges, etc. My PS pump started arguing in yesterday's cold so I had to replace it right now. Rack's been sitting around waiting for a good day for a replacement. FWIW, it wore out internally with up and down internal movement and I think the Scorpworks bracket did a great job of making it last as long as it did. I was able to transfer over the bracket and o-rings to the new rack. Thanks to Luis for helping me source a rack.

Now we have to scavenge the dead rack to make two sets of PS "jumper cables" in case there's a failure of the rack on the trail.

Now, let's see how the H3 does on my upcoming 5500 mile road trip at the end of the month.

Chris has me on upgrades and earning the breakage. I just wear crap out.

Road trip is to Boston and back. Northerly route on way there, bit more southerly on way back. Did it last two years in cars but I want 4WD since I'm doing it a month later than previous trips.

Alrock, time to take the old reliable H3 up North in the snow. Better to be safe than sorry. Safe travels and we will see you and Parker and celebrate Fishmas before you leave.

Know how Boston got that "Beantown" nickname? The history as we've learned it is incorrect. When the pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, a young pilgrim by the name of Joseph Arpaio profiled the inhabitants of the New World but incorrectly recognized them as Mexicans, not Indians. At that first Thanksgiving, the pilgrims, in an attempt to honor the Indians they thought were Mexicans, served nachos, rice and refried beans.

The Indians were aghast, leading to a massive fight and an eventual exodus. "Beans, really? F*** y'all, you can take your beans and your beantown, we're headed to our island of Manhattan, where we shall reside for eternity or until the Yankees build a stadium on our sacred burial grounds."

Alrock...The THORparts bed & breakfast is open, if you need a place to crash (or do an overnight bumper upgrade) along the way!

Had to replace mine on the new T a couple of weeks ago at 33k miles. The passenger side tie rods and rack were shot to hell. Thankful for the help as I could not have done it without Reloader's and Alrock's help.

Thanks. I'll be a bit south of you, stopping near Lexington KY. Can't quite get up your way, but I appreciate the offer(s)!

Good to see that someone finally got their American history right. The reason I haven't been back to Beantown is, as you correctly state, because the Yankees built a grand stadium in New York where they have won, I forget how many World Series championships?

No reason to go back to Beantown when I can go to Yankee stadium and have Nathan's beef hot dogs instead of turkey dogs, celery sticks and cranberries! [emoji12]

Okay, I'll give you the Mrs, but counter you with Uma Thurman and Eliza Dushku. The best thing about the Yankees? Young Steinbrenner is running the team into ruins.

...well, I did like "Jay and Silent Bob"! But in general, female NYers are just plain hot!

And unfortunately, neither The Beach Boys nor David Lee Roth was able to cite either NY or Boston as hot girls.
