Lookin to do an event next summer ( i know its kinda early:emb: ), And was wondering what the interest is. The dates are lookin to be June 15-17.
Day 1: Pre-run Day- We would plan to have a BBQ dinner that night and do some 'testing' on the Eagles Nest 4wd Track. ( We are not responsible for any damage:roll::wink: ).
Day 2: We are planning to either do Railroad Buttes or Camp 5.
RRB is a ATV designated area where it can be a rough and 'skinny' challenge to get to the top of plateau's. This place can be extremely challenging if it rains as the soil under the top layer is clay. So expect to sometime during the day someone gets stuck
Camp 5 has been run by Hummer in the past: It is a rocky road and has some challenges and some 'play' spots where rivers cross the road.
For any of the H3's, possibly H2's ( and if you are daring enough, H1's ) There is a back-up option called Iceman, or Botney Canyon. This is the spot where i broke both of my tierods on the H3 and had to end up walking out. It is a fun little road with a waterfall at the beginning and the end. It is a run-out waterfall that is really tough and that our 'buddy' blew his 4wd in trying to climb out. This is a 1-way in 1-out trail that has the same enterance and exit. Due to the FS shutting down the shelf road that is tighter than Blackbear and only alows H3's down. I will have a winch for the end incase i cant get out in my 3, but if you bring your own winch it will make it a bit quicker:wink: to get out of the waterfall. Once we get to the end of the trail there is an optional 'lunch spot' that is right across the river and waterfall that will be in the walk. There will be more trails to explore but these are the ones that ive done so far and i plan to do some different trails later so i can update that. To offer some 'options' i plan to at least have 6 trail options and have the group vote for wich one they choose.
Again, this is a possibility and if we where to do this youd need to buy a $25 BH FS trail pass for yearly or $20 week trail pass. I am going to look into the option to see if there is a group pass. For H40 members it is free, but depending on what THCI wants to do they might want to just run a joint event with us ( if anybody disagrees with this option let me know and i dont have to get THCI incolved, but i just thought itd be cool to get a THCI event going in the northern Midwest:thumbs: ).
Anybody have suggestions?!?
Thanks,
Olan
