Any interest in UCP?

I figured I would post this here instead of in my vendor room. Thought it might be seen more. This thread is to judge if there would be any interest in better UCP for the H2. I have made a prototype transmission plate, and I am going to do a front diff and transfer case plate as well for my own truck. The reason I made the transmission one is because after my last outing the OE ladder one was bent up and touching the exhaust pipe, making an annoying rattle. My aluminum front plate is a little tweaked too, and we all know the transfer case skid is kind of a joke.

The skid is made of 3/16" steel plate, and has slots cut in it so it can drain. It also has reinforcing strips welded lengthwise. It provides a little wider coverage than the OEM ladder one.

Here are some pics of the prototype. Keep in mind it is the prototype, and so it is not as perfect as the refined "production model" would be. Now that I have the angles and holes figured out, they will look much "sharper".


Here is the top side as it would be on the truck. Front of the truck would be to the left.

And this is the bottom, or working side, looking from the rear.

So, would anyone be interested in me making any of these up? Price on this transmission skid would be $350 shipped within the Lower 48. The finish is a black powder coat. Other colors could probably be done if desired, and may or may not affect price.

If there seems to be some interest in these, then I will make a thread in my Knight Metal Works vendor section for them. This is just for exploration purposes here. Thanks for looking! :corn:

Holy smokes that's a sexy beast! I can see the west coasters--Zac in particular--having a need for this. As for me, well, I think it would look great hanging in my HUMMER room with all the other stuff. Hey, HUMMER parts can be works of art as well.

I certainly could. If Hummjay was willing to let me use her truck for fitting, :wink: it could be done.

I just remembered Schwarttzy was working on something for H3s, and I don't want to step on any toes. I am willing to make some for the H3, but don't want to jump in his way if he is still working on that.

Well now... let me just think about that for a minute... :huh: I just might be willing to let you use my H3... IF... I could "wear" the prototype, you know, like taking it through all the necessary "in-the-field" stress tests and such! :wink:

But seriously Robert, that's a VERY nice piece you've made for the H2. You do really awesome work. You've got the skills and equipment to roll these out. We do need those for our H3's too! So I'd be happy to do a fitting. Just let me know when you're ready. This is exciting! :corn:

Do you mean all of them? I'm not sure what RB is?

What I have in mind for a "complete set" will be a three pieces. One to replace the front aluminum one, the one pictured above to replace the transmission one, (I think Hummer called this one the driveline UCP), and one for the transfer case.

I also have plans for some frame rail skids to protect the length of the frame rails. Haven't started on that one yet. I thought I might call them the "H2 UCP Up-Armor System." :wink:

Scarsman, that's a real work of art, too bad one has to lay on one's back under the Deuce to appreciate it... I should buy one as a wall hanger in my garage! :giggle:
