UPDATE: Ordered new Exhaust Cam Sensor, Intake Cam Sensor and Crank Sensor from RockAuto. Installed both Cam Sensors, and right away the idle RPM went from 680 nominal to 740. (ScanguageII). engine sounds super smooth.

UPDATE2: Installed new Crank sensor, old one was covered in copious amounts of oil?? main seal leak?
Could you provide P/N for these items..thanks

And the story comes to and end for now...

P0304 came back again. Pesky little Sh*t. Flipped spark plugs around(they are brand new, but just to check), flipped coils around cleared ECU, RESTART... Same thing... P0304. Fuel Injector has connectivity and isn't an open circuit(so this is good). Is it a bad head? One more thing to check.

If you remove the top part of the air intake manifold, leaving the throttle body connected, and removing the flex hose from the air filter box to the air intake manifold, you CAN run the motor. It will go into a fault mode at idle and assume sea-level for altitude(because it knows that it isnt getting levels from the MAF sensor that make sense) and use that air to fuel ratio calculation to run the motor, which isn't perfect, but the motor will run smooth enough. My problem was, I had a rough idle even then, and it was still throwing CEL P0304.

With the top part of the air intake manifold off, and the engine running, I played a little bit with the cable harness going to the coil of the #4 cylinder.... whrmmmmmmmm smooth as a whistle. bent it back to the shape it was in before, and rough idle again. held it up tight a little bit and whrmmmmmmm smooth as a whistle. SO i'm looking at a problem with the wiring going to the #4 coil, and it's somewhere in-between the main harness and the connector, actually for a fact, its inside the connector, probably at the crimped leads. This is going to be a pain to fix, as I dont know where to get those same leads to re-do the connector. And I dont know of anywhere online that sells just that connector by itself.

I suppose I'll call a dealership parts dept. tomorrow and check my options... for now, zip tied it into place, and the engine is purring like it was new.

**UPDATE** - Just found on RockAuto.com Ignition Coil Connector w/Leads 3-Way Female Black - ACDELCO 15306431 $34.79

Nice troubleshooting! Hope that finishes it for you.

Yep, got it back to 100% health! I might have been having problems for a while now without a CEL, Full Throttle seems pleasantly peppier than it was. Now the gas-strut on the rear hatch door has gone out. Its always something right..

I am having engine misfire 2 issues, do you know anybody near Temple City, CA? The shop I go to is saying I need a new engine, compression test done very low pressure, saying valves not leaking but they seen carbon inside when checking car out,?Any recommendations on where I can buy an engine for way less than dealer prices?

2006 H3 bad cylinder headss with VIN in correct range - but 135K miles

Ok, I get a call from Jerry stating he can do it for $1400....I was pretty happy seeing I was shell shocked at the original $2900. I tell him to go ahead. Zach calls me 30 minutes later saying he can get it done for way less then that, DAMN IT! I learned my lesson keep my mouth SHUT until I talk to Zach....technically I can pull the H3 out of the dealership and get it done through him for way cheaper but these guys have been good to me and dont wanna be an *******, so I am leaving it at the current dealership. I am just so pist for jumping the gun. Hes the man and could of saved me money but I just went too quick :sigh:

Cant describe how pist I am for doing this...I guess you live and learn so I dont make the mistake again next time.

Dealer told me that GM does not help. I call Hummer Assistance they say that nothing is attached to
my VIN. How did you get your dealer/GM to get your discount???

To all you hummer owners. When you get the green or oily water in a cylinder. You also get a code of cylinder misfire. Mechanics are wrong on head casket.
The fake hood louvers leak during bad rain. It get into cylinders. Most time in cylinder 1 but can get in any of them. I almost did head casket but found out where water is coming from. I park in garage so rare to be outside long for rain. I had a plate put under hood so rain would run off sides and not in cylinders. Easiest fix ever but most mechanics say it is antifreeze and big money. I sucked the water out and changed plug and was fine before till I figured it out.

Care to explain how rainwater on top of the engine gets INSIDE the cylinders?

I'm still surprised/irked that GM didn't make this a recall. Our first ever new car was a 1971 Toyota Corolla with their new 1600 engine. Three years later, well past warranty, and running great, I took it in to the dealer 1000 miles from where we'd bought it for a brake job. I got a call from the dealer a few hours later saying that if I could leave it for 48 hours, they'd put a new engine in because the engine SN was in the series Toyota had recalled because of potential head issues. So I got a brand new engine. And Toyota got a loyal-for-20-years customer. That's how Toyota cleaned Detroit's clock.
