Carpet removal?

Long story short, I recently encountered a.... "problem" down in the river and my interior got flooded. Was wondering if anyone has removed the carpet and used rhino lining? Is this even possible without making it look ratty and crappy? Just worried about the center console and other plastics hanging over and looking bad. Not worried about road noise, plan on this being a full on trail rig within a year.

Having pulled the carpet before (and the headliner and all the trim) a few things to think about:

It's a trail rig, who cares?

There is a LOT of insulation and sound deadening in the carpet pad (1-1/2" in places). With the carpet pulled, the truck is LOUD.
There are a few items protected by the carpet - mostly the ABS 'brain'-I think that's what it is, but I avoided touching that.
You'll have 1/2-1" gap between the bottom of the trim and the floor.
I would guess that the trim pieces would rattle a lot. I drove mine some w/the carpet removed but not enough to pay attention to the trim rattle (the road noise was bad enough).
Most of the wiring runs under the door trim, but some will be exposed along the edges. You'll want to protect that.

I deliberated leaving out the carpet and ultimately decided to put it in...it was LOUD. My rig isn't a daily driver, but I do drive it a lot to go fun places and it would have been very annoying.
