Changing the H3 interior color?

One of the peeves we have with our H3 is the black interior. We would have preferred a light color, but back in '05 the lead time to order one was outrageous. Since T's are so rare and pricey, we're probably going to keep the Green Goddess for a while and are toying with the notion of leather seat covers, new carpet, and coloring some of the interior plastic panels to match. Has anyone found a good source for off-the-shelf leather seat covers. Katzkin? How about a spray-on coating for the parts of vinyl interior? Looking at on-line pricing, it appears we could have a great custom seats for under $1000 plus local installation.

I'm also interested in finding alternate front seats that are longer under the leg for better support. Most factory seats are, IMO, way too short in length. I've considered looking for early 90s Montero bucket seats; I really liked them because they had built-in shocks.

BTW, I found that light colored interiors stay cleaner looking since black conceals little but oil stains.

Katzkin = Good/great

I've had two sets and felt the end result was well worth the money.

Had I some spare coin now, I'd have a set in this '10.

Sounds good. Did you have a shop install them or do it yourself?

It can and has been done by individuals.

However, I chose to have mine done at the time of purchase by a local shop here in Dallas.

Just my personal opinion here....but I think the Katzkin leather if far superior to the factory in looks and durability.

It just seems to hold up better than factory and almost looks better with age.

Again, just my personal observations.

I agree. That's why I like leather. Wipe it down with conditioner a few times a year, and good leather will last, look good & gain character for a long time. If it develops a wear spot, it can redyed pretty easily too.

I have Katzkins and I'm prety happy with them. I typicly prefer cloth seats but got a deal I couldn't refuse. The driver seat is starting to streach a bit in the butt area, and I'm not a big guy. This could be partly due to the inserts being perferated.

Use vinyle dye if you want to change the color of the interior trim.

I have a Recaro Sport I'm looking to sell that is mounted on springs to the base and the length of the seating surface is adjustable, but it's black cloth/leather.
