I think the issue would be at the tail end of the transmission, you would need to get one with an output shaft that would work with what ever transfer case you will be running.... then you would loose all the of the traction control stuff since it wouldn't know its 4x4

I don't think it would be wroth it, it would save work in some areas but create it in others

Mechanically it would not be too difficult but wiring would be a nightmare. It would take hundreds of hours but if you were determined I would think you could possibly do a swap with a new Tahoe or suburban but would need to use every single one of the tahoe's systems including airbag module, abs, dash cluster, transfercase switch/ module and wiring harness. Like strip the H3 clean of every system and start wiring in everything with the tahoe harness from scratch. I cannot imagine this would be worth it.

From a drivetrain point that 8 speed coupled with 4.56 gearing will be too much gearing 1st and 2nd with 35s. If you have 37s, 2nd will be alot of fun and wheel spin, but still forget about 1st.

If you want to use the 1st you will have to change the diff gears to something in the 3.xx (with 37s) , but that will also mean you wont be able to use the 8th gear as the engine rpms will be so low the engine wont be making enough torque to maintain speed (think 1500 rpms, 80 mph, 37s and H3 weight and air resistance)

The new camaros use the new LT 5th generation small blocks. They use different exhaust manifolds bolts and the engine mounts are different.

Axle gearing! It will set your final drive ratio/ torque multiplication at the wheels (its your trans gear ratio x axle gear ratio)

The 2015's come with 3.23 or 3.42 axle ratio (tow). Not sure if there are any higher ratios, for comparison an H3 comes with 4.56 (4.10 for the alpha). So if you take a silverado with the 3.42 ratio and swap in 4.56 gears, that truck will put down 33% more torque in each trans gear!

Talk about instant performance upgrade lol. 33% more torque is like slapping on a super charger.

That is true but realistically speaking,
Im putting 500 tqs and the H3 will spin everywhere in the 4l60s 1st gear (3.06 ratio). With 37s I think it will be more civilized (and I have 4.10 axle ratio). If I try to entet an intersection and give the truck abit more gas than supposed to be it will jolt out of its place in a bad way.

Translate that setup you listed in this threas with the 1st gear 4.56 ratio of the 8 speed (plus your current 4.56 axle ratio), the truck will be burning rubber and not going anywhere. It will be too dangerous (you will also have to think about modifying your diffs/drive shafts to handle that torque and not break)

But if you can find a way to keep the H3 driving in a straight line (really really wide grippy tires) then you will have an H3 dragster!

What is lousy about upgrading to a new GM crate motor LS3 6.2l V8? $6750.50 for 430HP and there is a $500 rebate available. So grand total of $6250 with a 50k mile warranty sounds pretty great to me. Match up my stage 3/4 PATC 4l60e trans and I would be a happy camper.

Are you able to do a video for us of your H3 driving? Hard acceleration etc? It would be really sweet to get to see one in action with that kind of power.

Ill do that once I get everyrthing sorted out. Its been a very painful process getting the swap done with all the things that needed to be figured out, then a trans rebuild (2nd and 4th gone), then overheating issues (yet to be figured out) and again trans issues (1st to 2nd shift is painfully slow and slipping).

But I will do that!

I got my LS376/480 for $6300 a year ago (no rebate for me as I am overseas). The LS3 was $500 cheaper. Looking at the same site now, price has gone up to $7186!!!

There is a $500 rebate though so its $6686. Its really not that bad imo. I just feel there is no real point in going higher than the 430HP if the H3 can't even use it effectively. And if you do a SAS then you can regear to whatever is correct so again the power is over kill. 50 extra HP for only a few hundred extra is always tempting though haha.

Is there any way to fit the LS7 crate motor in the H3? 7.0L 427? It would be sick to have 300 ft lbs of torque at only 1,000 rpms. I would think you could easily run 35" tires with 4.56 gears on the highway without down shifting etc.

All small blocks are the same size. I think if you swapped accessories it would work. Then you'd just have to worry about blowing up your axles and t-case and tranny.... etc. and how you'd keep it cool, stuff like that. It seems to me that the L92 would be the easiest swap. They accessories are the same, everything. The LH8 uses a slightly shorter crank shaft, but it doesn't seem like that's a big deal since people have done swaps already. I guess that's a question for someone else in this thread :)

I have 300+ ft-lbs at 1400 rpm and run 35s with 4.10 gears no problem but it doesn't involve gasoline.

Also if you look at the 8 speed it has almost the same gear spread as the 6L80e so I don't really think there is much more to be gained unless you want the novelty.
