I didn't know about the waving thing when I got my Motorcycle. I was so confused what was going on for a while. Anyway I wave to anything that I think is truly taken off-road in my Hummer.
I finally got a wave back the other day and my wife got a wave. First and only two so far. I think sometimes thy don't see because I can't always see them. Must be our windshield angles. I have gotten several waves though from non hummer divers including an older couple yesterday pulled up beside me at the red light and gave a big thumbs up and waved. And the guy at the dive shop came outside to check it out and said I was the first hummer he's seen that looked offroad worthy. He liked it and hooked us up big time at the shop.
Two years ago I had a dodge power ram guy flip me the bird -- in the last two weeks I have gotten thumbs up and waives from power ram guys and jeepers....
When I drive the 3 the only person that waves is actually a modded wrangler. (Besides the 1 finger waves I get from the Prius owner that lives near by)
When I drive the Jeep its a religious wave
When I drive the Dually I only get the 1 finger wave from that same Prius owner
I was passing a heavily modified 2 the other day. Not a scratch on it that I saw. But had a roof rack, aftermarket bumpers, winch, lift, tires. As I drove pass him I got a fist pump and me and my wife waved and laughed.
I give a wave to anyone who looks like they wheel, regardless of the rig. You can usually tell the difference pretty easily. If I'm right next to another Hummer, I usually give them a slight wave, but rarely do I get acknowledgement back. Most of the time its some lady driving fulfilling the soccer mom stereo type.
I moved to Northern Virginia/DC area from Texas. Apparently Northern Virginia doesn't have a lot of friendly Hummer owners (unlike Texas where they'd follow you and offer to buy you a beer lol).
I have an H3T wave to other Hummers. Mostly H2/1s wave back but I guess a lot of the H3's are mostly soccer moms around NOVA... I ride a HD FatBoyLo and even motorcyles/other HD owners will still nod and wave if you do no matter what you're driving. I'll be sure to wave if I see you in your rig Hayden. lol
