Answer to original question: Reference your state laws on conceal and carry, or transporting a firearm- my opinion if your firearm is not in your control you are being irresponsible

Let me re-phrase the question: Would you carry a gun on you while you are driving?
My liberal anti-gun friends think I am crazy to carry a gun while my NRA buddies say "go for it".
I'm Buddhist and practice the Zen life so being around Guns contradicts my energy, but there is a ghetto not far from my home.
Robberies and muggings happen where I live but not in my exact area.
I have a valid firearm carry permit.

Sadly I lost all my guns in a boating accident so I can't carry on my person, in my vehicle or in my home/work....

My wife has her CHL, and when we're traveling she has a firearm in the vehicle. Here in TX you can carry a firearm in your vehicle thanks to the Castle Law, but I don't go running around with it in my H3 unless I know I'm going into a bad part of town or something like that. I'm going to get my CHL this year so I won't have to leave it in the H3, but I've noticed a lot of businesses here lately are putting up the signs for no CHL permitted onsite. I'll either stop shopping there or leave the pistol in the H3.

The glovebox in our H3's is tiny as is our center console. When I leave a pistol in my H3 it's either in the back buried somewhere or under the front seat. When I get my CHL I'll probably make myself a lockable storage box that is bolted in. They sold them for Jeep's although neither one I bought actually fit my Jeep's lol. Glove boxes and center consoles are normally the #1 spots thief's look. They like to bash n grab n run..

I refuse to patronize a business with a No Firearms sign. I will say that 90% of the signs I see do not meet the legal requirements of the statute.

Yeah I'm used to seeing the "no firearm" signs, but the newer ones businesses are putting up mention the CHL laws. My wife's hospital just put new ones up so she can't carry her pistol into work. Lovely especially seeing that people get mugged in the parking garage on a regular basis while the overweight security guard never even makes it out of his guard shack....

I was in Tulsa Ok a year ago for work. Every parking lot you pulled into and door you went through, had a c/c with a red line sign on it. Everyone is protecting them selves $$$ ?.. Hear in Illanoid, the same signs are going up. Some of my customers are having there signs certified, to make sure they are within the law. A crazy f!!! With a gun,will never be a law abiding citizen. You and I may respect that sign. The crazy pos won't . Just conceal very well,rant over. I

You guys in TX need to change your laws to those like in UT and ID. “No Firearm” signs in Utah and Idaho have no force of law unless they are posted on property that is specificallymentioned in State Law as being off limits to those with a Permit/License to Carry. In Idaho that is a Jail or juvenile facility, courthouse, a public or private school (UT allows guns in schools...and I believe ID now allows permit holder in college to carry). (Not counting Federal Facilities.)
But, if they see your gun, and ask you to leave, you MUST leave. However, if they call the police and they didn't ask you to leave, the police will just ask you to leave.

And never saw a no gun sign in UT, the entire time I lived there, and so far, have not seen one in ID.

And when I was a lot younger, and in 'Nam, I learned never to give a can of gas to a Buddhist. So keep the gas away from Ray....

In Texas if the signs don't follow the statute requirements exactly they aren't valid. Very few do.

We need to change the laws across the board. I'm sorry, start in forcing the laws that are in place. Let's start making people accountable. Man, is that a hell of a idea?

Enforce the laws we have, I am sure you mean except in all the "special" cases where they just don't want to. I mean what is a democratic form of government if you can't pick which laws you are going to enforce?

...and if you can't get the laws you want passed, create them with an Executive Order!

And to keep your number of Executive Orders down, use the term [FONT=arial, sans-serif]presidential memorandums. That's what the current Liar in Chief has been doing..[/FONT]
