Gobi and XM antenna relocation?

I know a few of you have relocated your XM antenna due to interference from the Gobi rack, so can you offer up some tips?
1) What antenna did you get
2) How/where did you mount it?

I saw Reloader had a good setup but forgot to ask him when we were in Moab. Getting tired of losing XM when driving south.

I bought the terk xmicro 2 as someone on the forum had used it -- but have not installed as the connection to the radio needs a different connector than the purple three pronged one that came with it. Afraid it's still on my incomplete list.

Here's is what Timgco said and suggested to me on this topc:

"If you have XM radio, you may get sat. interuption. If you do, a trip to BestBuy is in order to get a new XM/Sirrius antenna . Your XM receiver in up inside the glovebox. Unplug the XM antenna, and route your new antenna to the spot in front of where the fairing would normally go. That is the best location and will give you that sat. radio back. You will have to dremel a leg off the new antenna fitting as they do not make one for the H3 any longer. It will take about 40 minutes start to finish."

I have the Terk Micro 2 also, very easy install. It has a magnetic base so I just stick it on top of the Gobi in a safe place where it will not get hit by brush.

I bought a n XM antenna for a GM vehicle from a local auto stereo install shop. It cost me $50 but I'm sure you can get it cheaper from Crutchfield or a like place online. I mounted it on the top pipe of my Gobi rack above the foward lights using a standoff conduit clamp, a bolt with a wing nut and a fender washer mounted to the clamp with a flathead bolt and nylock nut. The flat washer is to give a larger surface area so the antenna magnet can hold better. I routed the small black wire into the cab to behind the glove box. There is a lavender connector behind the glove box but unfortunately its the wrong sex to connect to the new antenna's connector. I had to plug it directly into the XM module. I believe the module is behind the center IP under to radio assembly. Follow the original small black antenna wire to the module. It took me about an hour to do this but I ran the wiring under the door seal temporarily to get it working and haven't properly piped it into the cab as I've been thinking of shortening my Gobi rack and then the oe antenna would work again.
