Grab Handle For Driver Side

It would be incredibly useful to have a grab handle on the driver side, but I can't seem to find anything about it. Is it even possible to make something custom to grab onto for this area?

Something in this area:

Headliner area, same as passenger side handle would make more sense, there's an airbag behind that pillar and is held in with only 1 screw and a few clips

Yeah, I was wondering about that spot also. Maybe install a passenger side grab handle in that spot. Is there a reason there isn't one there to begin with?

I, too, have often wondered why GM didn't include a grab handle on the driver side. 3 out of 4 doors have them, (front passenger door has 2; at roof and on A-pillar). I'd love one right above the door, but even on the A-pillar would be nice.

Might already be a spot there for RH drive vehicles, Anybody peek under the headliner and see if the spot is there to put one in? Would just need a handle off ebay that way. I would love a handle there instead of using the wheel to haul my short butt up into it :)

I'm assuming it just comes down to liability. Somewhere in our driver's education handbooks it says we're supposed to keep our hands at 10 & 2. If there's a grab handle there, and someone is using it... that means there's not two hands on the wheel. Some dumbass would eventually get into an accident and claim "It's <insert any automaker here> fault that I didn't have both hands on the wheel, they shouldn't have put a grab handle there".

I have been thinking about doing this idea for a while. Do you think the JK wild boar handles could possibility work? You could put one of the screws where the A pillar cover clip is, but then you would have to do something custom for the top.

I don't think it comes down to liability, with the handle, but probably a cost savings thing. I have driven in all types of GM vehicles and a lot of them did not have a handle. I guess they expect you to just grab the steering wheel. I know fords and dodges have drivers side handles.

It would take a custom headliner to add one like the passenger side has, it had a molded recess in it

Hmmmm....Wonder what the actual mounting points look like on the passenger side (under the headliner), and whether the driver side is similar? Perhaps a handle could be added on the driver side, using some spacers (to accommodate the lack of recess in the headliner)...
